Check the schedule to see if there is a "normal" £100 excess for all drivers (ie anyone of any age).
(There probably is, otherwise the excess appears to be £nil for anyone over 25 from what you are saying)
that doesn't seem to good, as if it was an under 21, or over 25 with no lisence that would be £350, plus your insurance going up0 -

That means you have to pay your excess no matter who is to blame when you make a claim for damage to your own car.
But as previously posted, if you make a claim for a third party when you have damaged their car, then you do not have to pay an excess for the cost of any repairs to the third party car.0 -
oh my gosh i don't even think there £250 of damage on my car
Has an assesor been out to see your car yet?
If your claim hasn't started then you might be in time to stop it, but I would phone them ASAP because as soon as they start people working on it, then it will cost them money and they may want to count it as a claim (quite rightly) as soon as they incurr costs.
If the assesor hasn't been out yet, then ask if you can cancel the claim for your car (but not the claim for hers).0 -

like i said futher up, am not very good with all this stuff, just been listening to my dad saying no matter if you hit 1 or 10 cars at once its still the 1 claim. And on the insurance says reguardless of whos to blame you still pay, so i guessed even if it was just the other car i would still pay.
no i phoned and reported it, they said the garage would contact me the next day and they haven't.
thing is i had fraud on my bank account so theres no money in it, i was told it could take a month, i have been phoning loads, last phone call on thursday said its been looked into and will hear in the next 5days so i guess 5working days which will be thursday, am i best waiting or phone the garage and hopefully i'll have the money by then ? It will be a month on wednesday i reported my card0 -

I think am finally understanding you,
so i hit another car, they make the money by putting up my insurance the next year.
but they make the money for claims on my own car, by charging me excess ?
maybe £100 if that of damage, i mean give my car a wee spray paint, and not sure how much the plastic bit on a mini costs.0 -
Yes it's still one claim.just been listening to my dad saying no matter if you hit 1 or 10 cars at once its still the 1 claim
No, you've made a wrong jump in the logic there. And on the insurance says reguardless of whos to blame you still pay, so i guessed even if it was just the other car i would still pay.
If you claim on the 3rd party part (other car) of the policy you pay nothing.
If you claim on the comprehenssive part (your car) then there is an excess.
It's still one claim.
So, you still have the car and it's still driveable? and they've done nothing so far?no i phoned and reported it, they said the garage would contact me the next day and they haven't.
I would ring and see if you can stop the claim for your car.
Please clarify. Is your car already in the garage?am i best waiting or phone the garage and hopefully i'll have the money by then ?
If not then cancel the claim.
If it's in there then I would see if they have done anything already and if not try to cancel the claim.
Not quite.so i hit another car, they make the money by putting up my insurance the next year
They'll lose money, but you'll be penalise because you are now seen as a higher risk of claiming.but they make the money for claims on my own car, by charging me excess ?
No, they put excesses on, to stop people claiming for small things because it costs them a lot in admin to deal with claims. Don't forget they have to pay for all the claims staff as well as just the repairs.
If they had no excess, then people would claim for minor scratches all the time.
If they haven't started then try to STOP the claim ASAP.maybe £100 if that of damage
If they have started, then sorry, but it's tough. You should have found all this out before guesing how it works.
Sorry if that sounds harsh but there is nothing anyone can done if the claim has already started, and by that I mean if anyone (like the garage or the insurer) has already incurred costs.
If they've done nothing then get on the phone ASAP and STOP the claim and fix your car cheaply.0 -

Just mentioned to my dad what people have said here, he says well don't be silly you do have to pay even if the claim is just for her car as its one claim so they are lying.
Yes still have my car, as was told the garage would contact me next day they never.
Wish i asked this before listening to my dad to get on the phone right away and make the claim asap:( i will be really annoyed at my dad if it turns out this is right
what do you mean by penalise, like harder to get insurance ?0 -
No he's wrong. There is normally NO excess on 3rd party claims.he says well don't be silly you do have to pay even if the claim is just for her car as its one claim so they are lying
I had a 3rd party claim myself last year and never paid a penny.
Is your dad an insurance expert?
If not why don't you call the insurers and ask.
That's an easy way to prove it one way or the other.
I'm sure he's trying to help you but I am sure he's wrong.Yes still have my car, as was told the garage would contact me next day they never.
If nothing has been done then get onto them ASAP tomorrow morning and see if you can stop/cancel the claim for your own car.
If nothing has been done so far, then you might be able to stop it and save yourself the £250. If they are open now then call then NOW.
Because you've had a fault claim, your insurance premium will be higher for at least the next 3 years.what do you mean by penalise, like harder to get insurance ?
When you get quotes they ask you about accidents in the last 3 years and you will have to declare it.
You are higher risk than someone who didn't have an accident so you will have to pay more.
Furthermore if you have No claims Discount that is not protected then you will lose 2 years of that, so your discount will go down.
Expect higher premiums.
Sorry.0 -

opens at 8 and i start at 8
just said to my dad the now, he said don't you dare cancel, the £250 will still have to be paid, and will cost you to get your car fixed.
also strange the fact admiral ask me to pay the garage after leave . . . why not pay them ?0 -
now my dad is saying they people's insurance mustn't charge excess0
