Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. Whats more sad?
The fact you dug that out? or the fact you think i care.
It doesn't change the fact this forum is just moaning... in fact your post exemplifies the behaviour on this forum doesn't it?
Straight for the personal attacks... groovy man groovy...
As for 'dont let the door hit you'... are you serious? this is an internet forum...
you're like a little boy who is upset that his master plan hasn't gone his way and is now complaining...
but it's ok though you meant your vulture post about getting property on the cheap, shame it never happened :rotfl:
t'is ok i'm not the bitter one and not the hypocrite0 -
I suppose people post here because its the neutral zone - somewhere between HPC and never-never land... now would the romulans be bulls or bears?0

There seems to be relatively little of merit in this forum.
The standard of economic debate is terrible.0 -
Have to admit that I come here less and less. Certainly isn`t anywhere as informative or indeed as interesting as it used to be. I remember some great threads. One sticks in my mind where it all descended into a parody of the " fly lady " stuff and home baking. It was the funniest.
I remember another thread which got very heated, DD and myself going head to head, only to end up with the 2 of us talking about vintage video games. All to serious now.
Tbh, I have been coming here for years and things have panned out in a very different way, as far as houses and the economy has gone, to what I expected. A firm old bear me. I don`t really have a vested interest as I don`t need to buy a home, more concerned re savings, investments and pension , yet I still am keeping a very open mind. I don`t believe that there exists a firm foundation for any HPI for a long time. I do wonder what will happen when the " funny " money has to be gathered back in.
To me, we are in strange times and I have no idea what UK Plc will be like in a years time or more.
Will just have to wait and see.0 -
OP,
You always have the option of a circle jerk on HPC?In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
I've been through it all in the last few years. As a seller, I used to find your posts quite repugnant at times, so I would retaliate.
However, most sellers become buyers again, and eventually I found myself becoming more bearish, finding less offence in vulture posts. Indeed, having STR'd, I even made myself a new avatar featuring a vulture, but in the end, I decided it was too inflammatory.
Now, having done OK, I'm still around, but feeling mellow. When I see a flame war going on, I find something else to read, because there are still some good discussions and links to be had.
Perhaps if you are looking for 'the way, the truth and the light' you are in the wrong place. We are all full of human frailty here.0 -
I haven't been on here as long as others, but I've also seen a marked deterioration in the debates on here since I joined. It seems that a lot of the older posters have left and the board is dominated by a few prolific posters. I created a thread just last week in the MSE Feedback Board suggesting that this board be moved into the Money Saving Arms as a sub-board so that it might entice a bit of new blood into the debate, but it seemed to fall flat.
I certainly don't see any validity for this discussion board to be in the 'Pure Money' section of the forum as there are never any money saving tips, money making tips or even much advice given here. More threads seem to be created about the personalities of the few remaining members (carolt and McTavish seem to get a weekly thread) than about the economy, recession or house prices.
I think if we are indeed out of recession, then Martin will soon wonder about the relevence of this board and might remove it completely. Better then to be moved to a discussion area and left to our own devices than to be deleted completely."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -
Given that the house price crash of Oct 07 - Jan 09 is now long since gone, I agree that it might be time to close this board0

We are all living in never never land at the moment.
Your government has got you, your parents, your partner, your kids 35K each into debt and given some of the money to irresponsible bankrupts running banks and thrown the rest at the general economy to keep people shopping.
I can afford to pay off my share.
How do you propose to pay off your share?
Harry
Do you really believe this stuff:
However, both government officials and economic analysts say the worst of the present crisis is over and that growth will return this year, in the light of improved internal and external conditions.
This is an encouraging forecast following a critical year in 2009, indicating stagnation after years of economic growth at an average annual rate of close to eight percent.
But the official picture is contradicted by more pessimistic assessments by private experts, who say recovery did not begin to be seen until September.
However the politicians claim "the worst of the crisis is clearly over, and for this year we forecast GDP growth".
"We foresee a good scenario, with things getting back to normal, and growth at least in the short term, but there is also uncertainty and there could be a fierce struggle over wealth distribution."0
