Currys won't refund it, why would they? You can't even give them the complete TV back. The product support service makes no difference, it doesn't provide a replacement in the first instance.

Why don't you pursue the product support you bought and get it assessed for repair? If they can't fix it, then they may offer voucher to replace it regardless of the stand.

Most home contents insurance policies don't cover products breaking down, so there's no surprise there. It's an extra you'd usually have to pay for.

How long have you had the tv?

Even if it had a stand you might not be entitled to your money back but a repair, partial refunds under sale of goods act

Not having a stand will definitely not give you your money back

A fair point, the warranty would even allow for a repair without the stand.

When she mentioned CoverPlan, I just assumed the TV was very, very old since the product support in Currys hasn't been called CoverPlan since 2004.
  • its 2 years old and i took the cover out in currys wen i bought the television, they havent properly repaired it tho because the television is stil not working, and they basicly said there is nothing they can, if they fixed it in the 1st place i wudnt be looking 4 a refund or a replacement.

To be perfectly honest, in my time at Currys I must have encountered hundreds of people who "claim" their TV is faulty and I would demonstrate it running perfectly in the store.

Virtually every time, it turned out that they just needed a new aerial.
  • wel i personally wouldnt go to the trouble of taking a perfectly good telly down off a wall to claim it was broking wen it wasnt i worked for dixon's and no that it doesnt work that way, currys said they replaced the rooter and that it worked in the shop, i told dem that if they wud llike to send a tec guy out to my home and i cud show him that the tv was stil not working they told me they couldnt, now if i wasx lying y wud i try caught my self out??
  • i wudnt mind if they took it back again and tried to fix it a second time but they wont,
