Did you actually remove the hard drive from the laptop?

Yes. Then turned computer. On. Then of. Then put hard drive and switched it on it started. And said system has found a problem and its trying to repair it. It didn't manage to do so and only gave me option to Finish

Ok...from that description it sounds like your lappy found windows cos this is not a BIOS repair message.

Please try starting the system in safe mode.

Turn the lappy off completely. Switch it on then dab the F8 key until you see a list of options where the one at the top shows "Start Computer in Safe Mode"

Use the arrow keys to highlight it and then enter. If you are prompted for which OS to load, make a note of that for me then press enter. See if the machine starts.

I pressume this is a Vista PC, right?

Its vista. Presing f8. But not bringing anything. Before I post in here I pressed ctrl alt delete and saw that. Safe mode you say but not bringing it again in any way

can you access BIOS (Setup) ...either F2 or delete on startup.

If you can please see if the hard drive is registered in there.
If you dont know how to find this, please tell me bios name and version and I will be able to talk you through it.

getting tired now so will probably get back on it in the morning for you.

Sorry fell asleep with computer upside down. Holding midle finger poking keyboart at G leter :
Been plastering yesterday till a pm then 3 hours football. And seemed I died. From tiredness like my toshiba.

I looked on gumtree, and saw a shinny lenovo u550 for 300 quid, in box and unspoilt so bought that as desperate to be online for mywork.. i always dreamed of a thinkpad but nevermind.. u series seem to be the closest thing to a thinkpad
will look for new harddrive soon and got the vista premium cd here .

i use a template quote to send quotes to clients.. but every time i open it it keeps asking me for 25 CHARACTER PRODUCT KEY FOR MICROSOFT OFFICE it says i got 20 more tries left !
looking at the back of laptop i can see WINDOW 7 HO,ME PREMIUM. and that got 25 characters but every time i enter its the wrong one??
this laptop comes witha back up buton and no cds! thought maybe the guy withheld it but a friend of mine got same laptop and all it comes is with charger and 2-3 booklets
