Carlsberg that sounds as though they are going to fold. Under the circumstances might eb worth contacting Barclays and checking the T&Cs of your loan.

Hi my lovelies -sorry to go off post but wonder if someone could point me in the right direction to get advice. Basically DH signed up for an electricians course to be done at home/on line/and at a college down south after each module he has finished for a week at a time. It was over two years, advisor who came out to see him signed him up for a barclays loan for over £5000 to cover the course costs (2 year course). Today he has had the following e-mail sent to him:

It is with the very greatest regret that I have to write to you to tell you that having tried our very best we have been unable to secure ongoing funding for the company and accordingly as matters currently stand we are unable to continue to provide your training.
    >
    > Arrangements are being made for an insolvency practitioner to be appointed and I am sure you will be hearing from him. No doubt you will want to discuss the position with him or an adviser.

He's looked up his advisors telephone number but there's no number or name to be had on any of his paperwork! He was nearly at the end of the 1st module. So we need to know about the loan and where we stand as obviously he can't/won't be able to finish the course.

!!!!!! I/we could weep. Just something else to be added to the long list of 'surely nothing else can go wrong'
have a look on the bbc website as this (or something similar) was on the radio at 12ish (radio 4, so possibly triker's favourite programme, you and yours...)

    Evening all

Miss H - congratulations on your first day - what are you researching (or is it top secret)

    Carlsberg
    - penpen is a CAB advisor so hopefully she will be able to point you in the right direction but I'd personally contact Barclays PDQ. Do you have the paperwork, do you have insurance on the loan?

Need to tidy up from dinner, get DS2 to do his homework and into the bath.

  • Anyway I'm being extremely rude as always!
Jinks - way hey your BACK!!
MissH - you sound upbeat! Glad it's what you want to do
Soappie - I've been remiss and not wished you well on your course. But WTG you on passing - gordons all round?! I'm having a drink as we speak.

Thanks for the hugs. DH has finaly found an advisor number but the man hasn't worked there since December! He thinks it will be taken over. And he says because it's a training course that he got the loan for that we won't have to pay for the rest of the loan if someone doesn't buy it. Well I've read Barclays loan agreement and all I can find is the following:

"If the contract is not fulfilled, perhaps because the supplier has gone out of business, you may still be able to sue us"

    So doesn't sound reassuring!
The ex advisor has told him to carry on with his work as he has only one more part to do to finish the 1st module and then get in touch with them about going down to Worscester for his weeks college bit.

You won't find it until you've completely decluttered and your house is spotless :p:D
