Philip Glenister (loved him well before Life on Mars...)
    George Clooney
Johnny Depp (esp if dressed as Jack Sparrow - no chance if Willy Wonka)
    Hugh Grant
Jeff Goldblum (from whom I have nicked a line anyway:))
Frank Lampard (but don't tell LouBlue)
    Richard Hammond
James May (but not Jeremy Clarkson or Jeremy Vine or Jeremy Kyle...)
    Stephen Fry (I KNOW but...)
    Philip Schofield

Second that, but would add Hugh Laurie, James Marsters and David Boreanaz. Oh, and then there's Alex O'Loughlin, David Tennant and one other whose name I can't quite remember. By the time I've found his name I'll have lost this post, so I'd better stop now. ;)

Far better for a one to one mother/son interlude is to buy a loaf of bread, a couple of apples and a quarter pound of cheese from the market, then go to the park to feast on hand ripped chunks of bread and cheese, interspersed with bites of apple whilst feeding the ducks the scrag end of the loaf at the same time. You can also talk which you can't do in the cinema.

That's a great idea - now why didn't I think of a no-prep picnic. It's food he loves, too. There's a reservoir/lake with a park on the way home. They even had an old mill and sometimes sell their own flour. Great, as I'm getting back into baking.
The cinema would be a one-off thing. He's never been and really getting into films at the moment. Maybe as a reward or on a special occasion.
    Thanks again!

To make it even more special - get HIM to help you choose the loaf of bread and the particular two apples and the specific chunk of cheese that you'll devour with your bear hands whilst feeding the ducks xx

  • What a lovely idea soappie. I am training to be a mentor at the mo to mentor kids aged between 8 and 12 that are starting to get in to trouble or that have issues in their lives, I never thought about a picnic like that with them - DH and I have done similar loads but this could be a nice thing to do somewhere local
It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

Yay, 2 pairs of trousers fully repaired, 3 coats washed and drip drying and 2 pairs of scruffy shoes renewed to wearability again!!!:j:j:j

I'm now waiting for a fast wash on 25 degrees (20 mins in my machine), one of the pairs of trousers that declare themselves DRY CLEAN ONLY (however, they're bog standard, plain Navy Blue, no pattern / embellishments etc.)... I've put them inside out and will drip dry them also (my beautifully clean inner hall looks like a bloomin' laudrerama!)

Will save a fiver if it works :D, and waste £80 if it doesn't :eek:
