You are going to talk yourself into it in a minute!

Why don't you let your GP decide?

I'm not talking myself into anything. I've just ticked the way i genuinley feel at the moment. I'd rather talk myself out of it - but that isn't possible. I try to think positively, and then something comes along to stop that, and i'm in tears again.

Yeah, will let my GP decide. I guess they'll be understanding of the way i feel.

    hi Westlife
I just wanted to say that its not uncommon to feel low and depressed. Its a lot like other afflictions though - it affects people differently. Some people can be laid low with a common cold and others can race around spreading germs!!
The most important thing to realise though is that with the proper care the worst of the symptoms can be alleviated.
I would suggest a chat with your doctor but you said yourself you like some time to 'get things in perspective'. Now is a really good time to think about what you would like to be doing, what would make you happy.
Can you picture yourself doing a particular job? Living in a certain place, learning a new skill. Relax and let your mind go on a wander!!
I'm a great believer in having a 5-year plan - it really helped me to focus and prepare for what I needed to do to get my life out of the rut it was in.
(And I failed my driving test 5 times before I passed!!!) As well as working I'm a volunteer driver!
The next thing I'm working on is singing lessons.
One last thing is to push yourself to be active and socialble. You never know what opportunities are out there.
    Best of luck

    One life.
  • Hiya Jennihen,

Thanks for that post. :) See now that's the thing - i want to be able to get better and make a plan as to what i need to do to get myself out of this horrid depression, but while i'm worrying about JSA etc.. i just can't seem to do that.

Even if it was only two weeks out to have some time to sort myself out, that would be a start. But some people in here don't seem to think i need that. :( So i really don't know what to do for the best anymore.

How many jobs do you currently have to apply for per week?

I really don't see how you cannot have time out whilst also being on JSA. If you confine your jobseeking activities to two days a week, that gives you five days to 'get better' and 'make a plan'.

Do you really think that two weeks away from JSA will make any difference, apart from giving you the hassle of a rapid reclaim?
    Gone ... or have I?

Now that i'm on New Deal - there are no five days though. Courses will start soon - 5 days a week. The way i feel at the moment, i really don't think i could cope with that, or rather i know i couldn't cope with it.

I had a feeling this was your issue - this is not the first time you have posted looking for ways to get out of going on the course.

What difference do you think that two weeks will make? All you will do is spend that time worrying about the course, you are just delaying the inevitable. Why not give it a go, and then if you really cannot cope seek medical advice? You never know, you may go on the course and enjoy yourself, as well as learning skills to get you back into the workplace.

    Think positive!

No my issue is the fact i'm not well!

Going to see GP this week anyway - someone who will understand how i'm actually feeling, and be able to help!

Thanks to everyone in here who has been understanding.

Yes no doubt your doctor will [STRIKE]take your word for it [/STRIKE]understand you!

Btw, your other posts strongly suggest you are trying to get out of this course thing, I agree with Dmg, you should try it first...you might enjoy it.

You know that first post of yours isn't very considerate is it? I don't know whether you've ever been through depression, but if not, i hope for your sake you never have too. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Maybe i should just cancel my doctors appointment, because it seems you and Dmg are doctors now, yes? No i thought not!

Well sometimes the best advice isn't always the advice you want to hear...
