As DD refuses point blank to go in her sling carrier I don't find it much of a problem :) If we're off for hikes where the buggy can't go (worth investing in a good one that CAN go most places!) she goes in a baby bjorn one that face outwards (only way she's happy - nosy child!). If we're likely to be far from the car one carries bubba and the other has a rucksack with bits and pieces which then doubles as changing bag.
My "normal" changing bag is pretty big... I bought it on the USAF Lakenheath base as DDs godfather is USAF :) It is pretty big tho...
    It has:
    3 nappies
    wipes
    1 sleepsuit
plastic tub of snacks (8 months old)
    couple of nappy sacks
a bag for dirty clothes just in case
either a muslin or a bib (depends on what is nearest as I leave)
and depending on how long we plan to be out - 1-2 bottles with water and milkpowder insert thingy.
It has OODLES of spare space so when she goes to childminder I can put her outdoor clothes in it and everything else she needs plus a blanket. Normally it lives under her buggy or in the car boot if we're only doing short dashes :)

    3 nappies
Sml pack wipes (from Bounty pack)
Spare sleepsuit (or outfit when she's bigger)
    Spare vest
Sml tub Sudocrem (from Bounty pack)

The bag came with a little changing mat, which i don't use. Although i used it when i changed her on a friend's sofa, in case she thought it was ming. Also comes with a little ziplock bag for muckies.
I don't take muslins/tissues or anything, cos i'd just use the wipes. As for toys, it'd be one i can attach to the pram.

I'm way past the stage of needing a changing bag-youngest is 7!
I had a plain black rucksack which I think came from Babies R Us. It had a small size change mat inside, and I think I used to carry
some wipes in a ziplock bag
    couple of nappy sacks
    couple of nappies
    1 change of clothes
    muslin
    toy
    snack
    water

I stopped carrying all the above as soon as I could, and graduated on to a handful of wipes, wrapped up in a nappy sack, and 1 nappy, in a "normal" handbag!

The bag is still going strong as a beach bag for the hols, as it has insulated pockets and is a perfect size for a day's beach gubbins!

I had so much more in my bag in those earlier days! But then I always drove places and used a pram. So didn't really have to think about how heavy the bag was. Now I have a separate handbag which fits in the changing bag if needed. That way if it's only me I just grab my bag instead of forever repacking. Recently I was on my own and needed a pen. Found countless raisins and no less than five cars. But no pen. That's a proper mummy handbag that is.

Hope you find a bag that suits you. I used the boots parenting club one for almost two years before getting a funkier one. New baby will need a new one too of course! :T

I bought a cracking chaning bag from Toys r us it can be used as a ruck sack or an over the shoulder bag it cost about £20 i also have a smaller nappy bag for short trips. Main bag will hold:

    Nappies 5/6
    wipes 1 packet
    Changing mat
    milk powder
    bottles 3/4
    muslin cloth
    change of clothes
    keys
    purse
    phone
    nappy cream
and still has loads of room for anything else i may need to take

The smaller one will carry all the above but only 2/3 nappies and two bottles plus i dont tend to take my whole purse just take a bit of change and my debit card

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Travel-and-Pushchairs/Changing-Bags/Mini-Messanger-Bag-in-Black(0031439) Thsi is the mini bag i have for short outings i would recommend going to your local store as they have changed the design slightly recently and the old style ones which i have and in my opinion are better (more pockets) are currently selling for £12.99. I can tfind a link for the rucksack type one i have

Everyone in my town seems to have the freebie ones from Boots!

Now DD is 22 months, got it down to:
    Fold up changing mat
    4/5 nappies
    Wipes
    Nappy sacks

With beaker & water if we're out for a while.

There is light at the end of the tunnel...

  • My son is almost 5 months and I have a changing bag which I hang off his pushchair. It was a £20 bargain from Ebay which my sister bought for me. It has 3 holders for bottles, mobile phone holder and a large pocket on the outside. Somehow I manage to fit all this in.

    Nappies x 3 or 4
    Packet of wipes
    Nappy bags
    Messy bag
    Hand sanitiser
    Cotton wool
    Tissues
    Sleepsuit/bodysuit
    Bibs
    Muslim squares
    Two toys/rattles
    Mobile phone
    Two bottles in insulated holders
    Spare dummy
Red book, so I always have it for weigh ins.

I always have it ready packed and just top it up when I get back.
