Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
My little boy is 2 and 3 months and I have only just stopped carrying around a 'Mummy bag'. I had quite a few of the free/cheap ones before I invested in a more suitable one (a birthday present from hubby).

I used to change the bag every day, adding fresh water, fruit bits etc but now I just keep it in the boot and it has mainly none perishables in it so I only need to change it every few days.

    - 2 spare nappies
    - wipes
    - nappy sacs
    - antibac (stopped carrying this round with me but after the ducks yesterday have added it back!)
    - long life fruit juice with straw for emergencies
    - snacks which are riveta strips with seeds or something long life similar
    - plastic fork and spoon
    - plastic bowl
    - bib

I also have a bag in the boot with spares of everything including clothes. Also a toy farmyard and cards to play with.

Then I add to my handbag everyday:-

    - cup of water
    - fruit

It gets a lot easier as you get older.

I remember having a check list before we went out when our little chap was a baby. I always needed the one thing I forgot.

wow, I must be a minimalist mum - or just disorganised!

I have my normal handbag which varies from day to day (pre-baby fetish, that and shoes, most of which are completely impractical now!) plus one of these http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_80_10751_-1_14056_81814_10001_14056 and a square washbag which live under the pushchair and they contain

2/3 washable nappies & a couple of disposables in case they run out
3/4 flannels (easier than wipes and as am washing nappies anyway makes naff all difference and yet to be anywhere without water to dampen them before use),
    muslin
    spare bodysuit and sleepsuit
another square washbag for dirty things

still bf so don't need anything foody related (yet!) and stray bits have escaped into my handbag before now! the size of some of the changing bags I see never ceases to amaze me but maybe as DS grows I will discover I need a lot more!

I don't tend to take much - one nappy, small pack wipes, one muslin. That's if I remember to take it at all. I stick the bits in my camera bag.

    Rough guess - first baby?

With my first I used to carry round loads, by the time I had the third I'd stick a spare nappy under him in the sling and call it good

I have a HUGE handbag - which always has
    3 nappies
    wipes
    small change mat
    muslin
    Calpol/Teething Gel/A&P Powder - just in case
Red Book - never know when you might need it.
    Diary/phone/purse/keys etc

If we are going to be out for a long period of time then I add the following
Bottles 1 or 2 (J feeds every 3hrs) in Insulated Bottle Holders
    Bib
    Gripe Water
Flask of Hot water (depending on where I am going as it can be hard to get a bottle heated)
    Rattle & Teething Ring
    Spare set of clothes

As J is on food now as well I will have to start taking food around as well but not thought about that just yet!

If I'm nipping out to ASDA I don't bother with the bag as I could get home quicker than I could get to the baby changing room!

My baby is 6 months old now and I find I need a skip to carry everything I need! I am struggling to find the right sort of bag that will fit everything, do up, AND be usable when wearing a sling (ie that has a shoulder strap that stays on your shoulder).

What is in your bag? Do I carry too much? I carry:

    nappies - 3 or 4
    change mat
    wipes
    change of clothing
    purse
    phone
    keys
    toy
    muslin

And often a blanket, another toy, some food as she is weaning now, and my Filofax.

This seems to take up a lot of room but I don;t know why!

What do you all carry and which bag would you recommend? Doesn;t have to be a baby bag as such.

I seem to be spending a fortune on bags that aren;t right and that's not MSE!

have the same but not those in red. got advised by a policeman....that so many mums carry purses etc in changebags that muggers/opportunists will watch you and then snatch the change bag when you let go of the buggy. which we all will do at some point when we are out.
so i use the changebag purely with the baby things and then an over the shoulder/body bag for me.

also bottle if we're due a feed when out.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'm unusual in that we go out from about 10am to 4pm every day, so I do need quite a lot of stuff with me. She isn;t that sicky but often feeds for comfort so then brings the milk back up lol, so I do need a muslin, and her poos, when they escape, go everywhere so the change of clothes is also essential.

Her toy is a spider she is attached to and which keeps her amused like nothing else can. It's not that big, and can attach to the bag strap if need be.

I suppose because I use a fabric sling a lot (woven wrap) and am out a lot I will need to carry more than other people?

I'm breastfeeding so no need for bottles, but do need food as I don;t always order food for me that she can eat, even though we are doing baby-led weaning I don;t want to give her a sandwich that contains mayo for example.

I think maybe a rucksack might be what I need, although I hate the look of them. I'm realising that being a mummy means I always look messy and rubbish! One day I'll be glam again...
