Had my iphone now for 2 weeks and im shocked at the battery life of it, i have turned off 3gs,wifi,location settings, push messagin, brightness and even the EQ in the ipod, basically its takin the fun out the fone i wanted because these are features i rele wanna use, ive been to the genius bar and swapped over the handset cause they said i have software running in the background that keeps crashin, my 2nd handset battery isnt much better took it off a long charge at 10am this morning and ive had no calls or texts and my battery is now @ 70% any ideas?

Haven't got an iphone, but have a Dext and had trouble until I downloaded an app called Task Killer - can you find something similar? It tells me what is running in the background and taking all the battery life and allows me to close the things I don't need. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

It's the main problem with iPhones, the battery is crap. I have an iTouch and it's just as bad.0 -
The iPhone is more a hand held computer than a phone, so the battery drain will be quite high. It is the laws of physics I'm afraid, if you want a high power computing device and all the functionality that brings in a small sleek case, you have to compromise on battery life. If you don't mind additional bulk, there are external battery packs available that clip on.
The battery life does improve to some extent after a few charge cycles.
I find that if I charge the phone every night, there is ample power for most of what I want to do during the day, push email, wifi, games, texts, phone calls etc. It is usually down to about 30% after about 15 hours of a mixture of standby and moderate use for the things listed.0 -
i have an iPhone and the battery life is pretty bad. like in previous posts, i think its just because its uses so much of it to just stay on lol:eek:0

The iPhone doesn't multitask - you can only have one app running at a time. This is deliberate, to conserve battery life (!)
If you don't have 'push' email from Apple (mobile me) check to see how often your phone is fetching email. If you reduce this, you may eke out the battery life a little longer.
I rarely get more than a day out of my iPhone. If I know I won't be able to charge it for a while I turn 3g and wifi off and use it sparingly and that extends it's life.MFW Challenge: Mortgage free in 2008! ACHIEVED!0 -
My iPhone's battery needs charging every day but with wall chargers, car chargers etc and mobile power packs, what's the problem? There is always a way to charge the thing.
How long do you expect the battery to last for?0 -
Its normal for the latest generation phones to have a shorter battery life than older phones. My Palm Pre absolutely has to be charged every day or it will run out of battery. You may find it helps to fully charge the phone, and then drain the battery as fast as possible by playing music out loud through the phone continuously, and then charging again.
If you still get no luck and the results aren't what you had hoped for, you should go to your nearest Appl Store and go from there.
