Show suggestions: tick/untick - although this problem does look endemic for some users (not myself and I do use Windows 7 too).
Also, click on drop-down arrow, Manage search engines, untick Show search suggestions...just mentioning other ideas here, although - I repeat - from reading the posts here the prob does look endemic for some! (see below).busenbust wrote:No problems whatsoever with Windows 7 (and XP) here; wonder if it affects a particular version - I'm using Professional. Possible firewall issue? Third-party add-on? If you highlight google, at the bottom, there should be a disable link
IE8?
In regedit, navigate to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes]
under there, look for "ShowSearchSuggestions" and set to 0
Closed, I have just followed through this (with a clear head, lol) and all went well until I got to the Search Scopes which I double clicked on, but could find no "show search suggestions" so couldn't set to "0".This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No, it isn't that one. I have 12 sets of long numbers but none match, thanks anyway.
