  • My son's best friend (17) died a couple of weeks ago and we suspect this game was the cause. So sad.

Thank you for bringing this frightening 'game' to my attention - I have never heard of it before. Petition signed.

I've never heard of this and it was only a few years ago that I left school

Makes you very wary of letting children out to play though!

This was a craze at my school 30 years ago. It was called the fainting game.It didn't involve ligatures, we used chest compression after a short period of rapid exercise, very similar method to Battybird, but it involved squat thrusts. It is the only time I have ever fainted. I didn't realise that it had taken on this very sinister turn.

I don't remember it being a high or a pleasant experience.

My concern with this is that spreading awareness could actually prompt some people to try the game...I hope this doesn't happen.
  • My DS has just told me that Derren Brown did something similar on stage with a plastic bag - now that is VERY worrying.
  • I didn't have a clue that this was so widespread. Thanks for raising awareness, petition signed.
