On September 6th 2009, one of my Daughters best friends at school, died from hanging, he was only 13.
In his bedroom, he played the choking game and was only found by chance by his step Dad, he died on the way to hospital as the Paramedics were unable to save him.
Apparently, this choking game is quite common with school age children.
His family, friends and the school were all deeply affected by this and what has appeared most alarming, is no one seemed to know about this deadly game, his Mother has now been given permission to create a Petition to make more public awareness about the choking game. As with all Petitions, unless there is a decent amount of people signing it, very little notice will be taken of it.
So, I am asking if people on here would possibly sign it and hopefully Tylers death and a sucessful petition will save the life of another child.

It was a really common game in our school, and the school did a big assembly about the dangers of it. I just don't think people realised how bad it was, and how dangerous. I never fancied it myself, looked like it hurt but (boy's mainly) used to do it all the time, and get other people to do it too. They just had no idea of the consequences.
I will go sign the petition now. So sorry to hear about the young lads death, it's tragic. x0 -
My dh remembers the choking game from when he was in high school,( many years ago), he tried it once and passed out! I had never heard of this so called game untill recently. Very scarey stuff!0

I remember similar sorts of games when I was a child (nearly 50 years ago) - playing "chicken" on roads or rail tracks, various sorts of dares and so on. Children have a secret world where parents are deliberately excluded, it's part of growing up but sometimes it ends in tragedy. You have my sympathy but I'm afraid children being what they are I'm not sure this sort of game can be stopped.0

I had never heard of this 'game' and having a teenage son, it is very worrying. I have signed the petition and put a link on my facebook page to enlighten my friends to this horrific act. Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass
