thats what i was wondering... would the op sort of 'transfer' the sweat elsewhere? so, instead of excessive sweating from the arm pits, would i get, say, sweaty hands?
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I used to have this problem and tried many diffirent deodorants. My underarms felt hot and blocked. Then I switched to non aluminium based deodorants and the problem has completely gone. I sweat a little bit when its really hot but nothing like I used to. I use a natural crystal roll on deodorant (the kind you have to wet first) from holland & barrett.

After my op I didnt notice any excess sweating elsewhere altho the consultant did say that could happen. I do still sweat slightly under the armpits but less than anyone else and anti-persperant treats it normally.

I agree with Misty go to your doctor, as I said I have scars and the operation put me out of action for a week or so but I dont ever regret it, its something I dont think about now & it was only your post that reminded me how much it affected my life and how miserable I was. For example I was chief bridesmaid for my best friend and it spoilt the whole day for me.

I also can buy clothes now because I like them and not because they will hide the problem.

As I also said - if it seems like being a problem for my daughter when she's a bit older I would take her straight down the doctors and get it sorted earlier rather than later.

By the way you can buy cotton pad things to put in your clothes for under your arms - I cant remember where but that was before the internet! so Im sure you can put a search in and it will come up. Obviously this only hides the problem again but they are useful for a special occasion & whilst you are waiting for a more permanent solution.

those pad things mentioned im sure i saw them being used on 'what not to wear' for a lady who had excessive sweat due to being pre menopausal....im sure you can get them in debenhams near the t!t tape, chicken fillets etc but then again you can only use them with long tops surely as you would look a bit silly..........

if you get excess sweaating with the menopause, then god help me in 20 years time, it'll be like a river in my arm pits! and yeah, i was thinking that about the 'long sleeve top' thing too... you couldnt wear them with a vest or anything, could you?

i really wouldn't have thought so i think they just somehow stick(?) inside your top. i think the idea is stopping the initial 'patch', where as i know that even a vest top you end up with the sweat patch on the seam bit underneath. dont think it would look good with 2 balls of cotton wool sellotaped under your arms lol

LOL! that made me laugh so much! i cant imagine what's worse, sweaty patches under my arms, or two big dollops of cotton! anyway, went to town today, and added 'fresh' deoderant by dove to my collection (my bedroom shelves are starting to resemble boots!)... if this one doesnt work, i think im going to have to head back to my doctors...
