  • Hi

I have the condition called hyperhidrosis (sp) when I was a child I use to have a treatment where I would have to put my feet in solution and my hands, they would then send an electric current through them and it would feel like my hands had pins and needles. It was great except it would dry my slavia in my mouth up, real badly and sometimes give me bad headaches. It did work though but couldnt take it anymore.

Then I tried Driclor, brilliant for my hands, but my one armpit has started sweating like mad, so for the second night I put it on, OH BOY only lasted about an hour, had to wash it off, itch isnt the word, I am going to search for something else.

I just dont go out in this heat, and when I am getting ready for work in the evenings, I put my air con on in my car, go back in my house, put my top on, then by the time I get in my car its cold. Nightmare.

Not much help, and sorry for talking about myself. If you find anything let me know though. Thanks x

Ask to be referred, thats what my mum did when I was a teenager. I know its a bit more advanced, think they can inject you with botox?

i really do feel for you i was soooooooooo embarassed especially in pubs and clubs constantly in the loos in a strange position under the hand drier constantly thought i wiffed a bit (probably did) if you really dont get on with driclor maybe the route to take is either botox (!!!!) or permanant removal of sweat glands ....feel free to correct me if im wrong as it was a few years back but im sure the doctor i saw told me if i did this then i could end up with a severe sweat problem elsewhere. if this is affecting your everyday life please see a doctor who will take you seriously

i have this problem too- thankfully as a SAHM its not too much of an issue these days, but when i was working it was a nightmare!! i too tried driclor, but couldnt hack it, and went back to mitchum, and wandering about either

    a) with my arms up, trying to get a breeze, and constantly pulling my top away from my pits....(that was on a good day)

or b) with my arms clamped to my sides, trying my best to avoid having to reach up for things.....(that was on a bad day )

sorry i cant be any help, but you are definately not the only one hon :)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I also couldnt get on with driclor - my underarms were red raw and when the doctor saw them he referred me to the hospital for removal of the sweat glands - that was 8 years ago and altho still have scars it was the best thing that I have ever done.

I had forgotten how much this affected my life, think if I hadnt had it done I would be scrimping and scraping to have the botox - even if it meant having a 2nd job.

Sorry this isnt a quick fix solution but it was the only thing that worked for me.

i do that too! i either try and wave my arms round like a loon, or, as you said, i keep my arms clamped to my side hoping i dont see anyone i know on the other side of the road that i'll have to wave at!
