What was the netgear thing, a usb adapter? Presumably that has been removed?

Press all the keys down on the keyboard, sometimes keys get stuck.

Reseating the memory is also a possibility, but if the ram was malfunctioning, I wouldn't expect you to get anywhere near the windows boot.

beeping is a hardware issue.

make and model of the laptop??
how old is it
how often has it been plugged into the mains, since the failure
reason i ask, cmos battery would be used, if it wasnt plugged in for say 2 years, and it could be dead, note i said could be.
easy enough to check whilst in the bios check the date if its current it should be ok.
things to try...

1. remove the main battery, should have a lock switch, just move lock switch to unlock and pull out battery.
2. you should see 2 covers underneath with small head screws. These two covers are 1, harddrive, 2 memory.
remove screw(s), in the middle section. remove cover, should see memory. at the top and bottom just carefully push the clip to release. take out memory, and then put back, note: will only go back one way. replace cover and put back screw.
retry computer.. place large battery back in, it will click.. will also go only 1 way
same bleeping, now do the other 4 screws and check connection on hard drive. make sure its firmly in place. replace cover, put screws back.
retest...

All fixed! The battery was dying and was warning me lol!! Had forgotten about that annoying side of things!
