Just seems like financial suicide doesnt it.
  • It makes sense, if a car is dealer serviced to spec then they will have made enough from servicing to cover the warrenty, and a well serviced car is likely not to gofar wrong. Mercedes offer up to a 30 year warrenty if dealer service and their build kwality is hopeless. they make up for this by being thorough (expensive) in their servicing.

It just doesnt seem feasible that cars costing so little could be fully covered for that period of time.

All that it proves to me is that a lot of the bigger car makers have been taking their customers for a ride for a long time.

Hopefully this may wake them all up to some quality control of their vehicles, and real customer care.

To me, Korean cars are the Japanese cars of days gone by, built in long life build quality at sensible prices.

The cost to manufacture a car can be really low. For instance a £16k Ford Focus might cost around £6k to manufacture. A substantial proportion of the rest goes on advertising. On some cars advertising can cost £1-2k per car. And of course another amount will be set aside for warranty costs.

You would think in a recession theyd be licking the feet of anyone treading on the forecourt.....not only have they lost a sale, the bad publicity here associated to their name......all for a umbrella probably valued at less than 2 or 3 quid.

It is reasonable, for a sales environment, to assume that if there is a seat, you are allowed to sit. If there is a water machine on public access - and no sign to say otherwise - that you can have a drink....that if magazines are on the waiting room table in a dentist - that you can read them. The OP has done nothing wrong, although personally I wouldnt stop buying a car for the sake of poor customer service alone....it is a good satisfaction to turn on your heels and leave them standing there gormlessly.
