How Toyota lost a sale

  • OP your mistake wasn't going to a Toyota dealer it was going to the Colindale site.

Go to a proper dealer and you will not be treated like this....guaranteed.

Funnily enough i always find city dealers to be the most impersonal/uncaring/rude, i suppose they reflect the attitudes of the area.

I once went to our local Ford dealership after work to test drive a Galaxy. The car park was full so I figured that it wouldn't do any harm to park in one of the MOT bays. My reasoning was that they were unlikely to be MOTing many if any cars at 5.30pm. As I walked over to the showroom a jobsworth appeared and told me that the bays were clearly marked for MOT customers only and to move my car immediately. So I did back home.

About 15 minutes later I got a call from the salesman checking if I was coming in and I told him about the jobsworth and there being nowhere to park. He wasn't happy.

So you picked up there property without asking and wondered why they asked you about it?
    it's 'their', not there.

Whether you thought they were customers or not is irrelevent, you, should have asked. For all you know they belonged to other customers
you're contradiciting yourself. do YOU know whether it was the garage's property or not?
    Tbh I think you overreacted.
Just because you think it, doesn't make you correct.
All they did is ask why you picked up property not belonging to you without asking.
No, they did it in such a way as to embarrass and humiliate a potential customer.
I bet each one that goes missing comes out of the garages profits
Do you have any evidence to back this up? What about the ones that get broken? You're making assumptions, based on nothing concrete.
How many umbrellas would the garage have to lose before they equalled the profit from the sale of a vehicle?

TBH it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. The OP really should have asked and not just presumed, but the sales person also had no right or need to act like a !!!! about it. Even if it was actually a customers umbrella and not the garages you still speak to potential customers with respect.

I reckon I would have sooner forgotten about the brolly incident and purchased a Toyota somewhere else, better than ending up with a VW at least.

I think someone should invite an appearance/comment from Toyota Colindale :D

    To Toyota,
If they are not for customer use why is there no sign to say so?
Why would you be surprised if a customer sees the brollies and picks one up?
If they are for staff only why do you put them in such a tempting position for customers to see?
If they are not for customers........ why isn't there a sign next to them inviting customers to borrow a brolly from reception?

Why are car dealers "Customers Car Parks" always full up with their own cars?
