why do estate agents park on the drive?

Not a good estate agent if they cannot factor in some delays, thereby making all subsequent appointments late.
5 mins would be ok.....but why should an EA allow more than that...an appointment is an appointment, you wouldn't turn up late for a Doctor's appointment so why should it be different for a viewing.
I've had times when viewers are half an hour late which messes up my whole day......I'm not factoring in an extra half an hours just in case someone can't be a$$ed to turn up on time!My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -
Because they are obviously lousy at their job, ie selling (not saying all EAs are, but those that park on the drive clearly are). Great way to point out parking problems to potential buyers!
So because I park on someone's driveway....with their permission, I'm a lousy EA.....mmmm that makes sense! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. Whe our neighbours house was for sale the EA frequently parked on our drive or used it to reverse out of were we live. There is a large patch of grass between our houses!0

If i am viewing i would never park on the drive, always on the road.0

That's a hilarious response from an EA, especially when teamed with a dig at buyers turning up late. In my experience it's usually the EA that arrives after I do! As for parking on the drive, it seems most EA's do but I find it really inconsiderate. How is the buyer supposed to judge what it's like to pull onto the drive and how much space there is to open car doors if the EA's car's stuck there. Of course you can ask them to shift it but why should you. I don't see why you should inconvenience me in the first place - after all, who's keeping who in business!0 -

So it's ok for viewers to turn up late? The only reason generally why an EA is late is because previous appointments have been late or overun.
I truly see nothing wrong with the EA parking on the driveway as long as they have permission from the owner or there is no other place to park.My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. Oh dear. Another runaway wild generalisation thread!
All EAs are this, and all viewers are that.
Such a shame!0 -

Just trying to prove a point........
I just know when I see the words EA in the title of a thread this is the way it's going to go.My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. And ... wait for it ... the only reason the viewer is late is because the other Agent was late at the previous viewing.:p:p

Well I pride myself on timekeeping so do all I can to arrive on time. Sadly few people care these days, and as an EA I appreciate you must meet many that don't.
As for the parking issue - fair enough if there's nowhere else at all to park, but if there's somewhere to park safely within about 20 metres I think the EA should leave the drive free for the buyer for the reasons i posted above. Even if the buyer arrives on the bus, it still helps to see the property without a car on the drive, to get a better appreciation of space. I'm not having a dig here - just pointing out my opinion as a buyer. And from an EA's marketing perspective, I'd have thought it would be an advantage for the buyer to have their car on the drive so that they can better picture themselves living in the house.0
