Ideas for advertising a computer repair business

Sorry to jump onto your thread here, saves starting a new one. I know how you feel op its hard work setting up, I too am doing the same as you, Don't worry we are far apart, I am near Newmarket lol.
I am not good at writing ads and web design is not my strongest skill with regards to IT but I shall take a course soon to add it to the list of things I have been doing. I work in IT as my day job but it would be nice maybe to work for myself full time one day. If anyone has advise I would love it. So far advertised in Gumtree, free ad in yell and on business links and my freeindex. I need to get out this weekend and hand out flyers. No calls yet but I only have a mobile listed that I brought for this maybe I should add my landline??
I removed my site and company name as I forgot about no advertising so here it is again. My question was about my site but I cant list it so I have a new question now anyhow. I had a call from a guy who does computer repairs like me and he said something about using utility warehouse?? to sell broadband to people I fix computers for? Anyone else heard of this? He was telling me about a presentation I should go to on Monday about it0 -
I believe you'll find extensive discussions about Utility Warehouse on the Gas and Electric board.Signature removed for peace of mind0

both silly, daft argument. You should try google its all internet these days I think.
I dont think many people use yellow pages and phone books now. But, business cards are good ideas I think0 -
...... I built up the client list by running adverts in our local Friday ad which cost £25 per week.....
Yell.com cold called me within an hour of putting out the gumtree ad offering me a mid range package which i think is a bit overkill for what i'm doing but i had considered the yellow pages, although it is expensive and the next one doesn't get printed till November.
Were you really spending £25 a week on Freeads? Yet you think yell is expensive? My brothers business is just renegotiating his yell deal and with a 1/4 page ad in the book, web advert and 118 247 it comes to ~£50 per month.
Also get yourself listed on Google local business centre http://www.google.com/local/add/ . Make sure you include what the business does in the company title (xyz Computer Repairs) then whenever someone does a google search on Computer Repairs Dorset then it will be one of the businesses listed at the top with links off to google maps. Its also free at the moment so can't harm and you can link to your website when thats up and running.flemingscarpets wrote: »I dont think many people use yellow pages and phone books now. Although there are more sources of this information and I think the actual book usage is declining I still believe the older generation will use it and those more internet savvy will go online and probably use yell.com. From my perspective it is still a more reliable portal of providers of services in my local area.
