Good morning
I'm having a right good tidy up today. I've got this bottle of vodka that I know is at least six years old - it has been opened - is it still all right to drink? Same with a bottle of Taboo (but that's about two years old) - or should I chuck them both? Would hate to see it go to waste if it's OK, but I'm too chicken to try a bit and see what it tastes like!

My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal

Ive just checked some bottles of bacardi that i have, and there are no best before, or use by dates on them. Like sankeygirl, i always asumed that alcohol doesnt go off, and probably gets stronger with age, so im sure it would be fine to drink!!! (i would!!! )0

The vodka should definitely be fine. I don't know what Taboo is so can't really comment on that.
Things like Baileys do go off, but with spirits like vodka, whisky etc.. you should be fine.0 -
Vodka should be fine, it's only creamy alcohol that you want to be careful with as that will go off. Also some young wines which aren't meant to be kept will go off and taste yuck.I have loads of weird stuff that I keep trying to find people that will drink it, maybe a summer cocktail party will work!!!0

Righto, thanks - I'll keep it and perhaps serve it to friends and family I don't like:rotfl: just to be on the safe side!
It is very good of me to have kept a bottle of vodka for so long, isn't it? Shame the bottles of Jack Daniels only last a month!:oMy sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0 -
The Taboo is partly wine based ... I would not risk itAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

It doesn't usually in mine either! These bottles though have been sat on the shelf for donkey's years, because I don't particularly like vodka, but someone bought it back from a hol for me and it's sat there mostly ever since, apart from one or two openings when friends have been round. I also just found this tiny bottle of some sort of Polish Sherry - there's a Polish lady down the road who Mr A does jobs for and she's always bringing him gifts - but this smells like death so it's gone down the sink! Or perhaps I should save it and use it as paint stripper! My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0 -
Spirits I wouldn't worry about
anything over 40% ish should be nicely preserved
Anything with cream I'd agree needs to be monitored (keep testing it just in case
) but thankfully Baileys frezes well and makes great icecubes for chocolate milkshake... *hick*
