Does alcohol go off?

Most alcohol doesn't last long in our house either! No point us having a wine rack because it would always be empty!:p We don't drink brandy or rum though and they just sit at the back of the cupboard!0

I'm sorry, I have no idea, but i'd happily test them for you, purely to see if they were OK

SK xAfter 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -
Any spirits will last pretty much forever: the alcohol is the preservative. Make some Xmas pud now or get a recipe book for cocktails. My favourite winter-warmer is brandy and port mixed 50/50 but my usual limit is just the one, it's VERY "warming"0

Got some brandys and single malts unopened that date back almost 10 years so I'm hoping they will still be ok.I hate migraines.0

If they can age single malt in brandy or sherry barrels then in a bottle is the same. If you open them and find they're not OK, please send them to me0

My brandy , will make the cake this week , will come out of a bottle that I have used for over five years.0

I had a clean out of the larder and found a half finished bottle of Gordon's Gin that must have been in there for a good 8 years - will it still be ok to drink or is that a bit too old?0
-
It will be fine. Try it.0

It will never go off and that's why alcohol in general and spirits in particular are used as preservatives. It's not just for the lovely flavour!
Enjoy your G&Ts. Freshly-squeezed lemon juice, some sugar and gin is known round our way as a "Yellow Fever" and very nice it is, too. A couple of drops of Angostura Bitters and some soda water on top and it's magiced itself into a Tom Collins. Yummy0 -
Never gets the chance in my house

But in answer to your question, I doubt it.Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0
