I just want to clarify that while I agree with the points made by Guys Dad, my post above was not intended as an attack on Ben at all, and I apologise if that is how it came across. An attack on the banging-your-head-against-a-brick-wall sensation that dealing with the mobiles.co.uk (and, tbf, most companies') CS has been, perhaps; but not a personal attack on Ben, whom I believe conducts himself with sincerity, integrity and contrition (where appropriate) on these forums, and does not deserve the abuse he gets from some quarters.

Also, my grievance is not an old grievance I'm raking up, it is very much a current one - I'm still waiting for my reply!

Understood and none of my references were in your direction - but see older threads and you will see what I mean.
  • I'm a bit confused, I recently bought a Blackberry from Mobiles.co and regarding my cashback it said:
Automatic cashback is a promotion from Mobiles.co.uk, where payment is automatically processed 21 days following the delivery of your phone, which allows time for any phone returns. Payment will be a cheque sent directly from our parent company The Carphone Warehouse. After being processed, receipt of the cheque will take a maximum of 28 days which allow's time for it to be raised, printed and posted to you.

Will I need to claim this or should it be automatic like it says? It's been about a week so not panicking yet, will I get it in the time they say?

Give it about a month after the phone has arrived, you should get a cheque in the post to you.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

  • Hi, I am new to the forums but hope this is the right place. I am having an absolute nightmare getting an answer from mobiles.co.uk about cashback. The claim was approved on 20th November 2009 and yet I have not received any cheque. It was all sent correctly and on time and I have the email confirmations from mobiles.co.uk as proof.
Can anyone advise if this is normal and if there is any other way to contact them as the contact from on the website is driving me bonkers!

    Thanks

for the record, i still don't have any useful response to my earlier email query from either ben, or the sales team. mobiles.co.uk have a major problem with communication. it won't necessarily stop me from ordering from them, but any hopes i harboured that it would be painless are rapidly receding...

In the mobiles.co.uk closed thread said I would update with my experience of mobiles .co.uk.

:)First the good news, ordered my contract phone via Quidco on 9th Jan, phone arrived in 2 days, Quidco transaction tracked the same day and validated 2 days later, mobiles have confirmed by email that my auto cash back cheque is on its way, no actual money yet, but looks hopeful.

:(Now the mixed news, ordered wife’s contract phone via Topcashback on the 11th Jan, transaction tracked the same day, but has not validated. Mobiles have just confirmed by email that her auto cash back cheque is on its way.

If I have to complain about the Topcashback payment, history would seem to suggest little point in trying to communicate with mobiles .co.uk, so will go straight to the Carphone Warehouse CEO’s office who were very helpful recently over a problem I had with a laptop.

    Sanfly,

TopCashBack is who you need to query that with, approval or payment of that sort of cashback is nothing to do with us and the CEO office will have absolutely no idea what the issue is. TopCashback are the ones paying you and it is they you need to chase.

As mentioned by the rep (and the response would probably be the same for any retailer, not just Mobiles.co.uk) you need to contact TCB support about the cashback not tracking, not CPW. I don't know TCB's terms, but many of the cashback sites explicitly state if you contact the retailer/mobile company/supplier direct, you could get your account closed (no doubt to cut down hassle/stop relationships getting damaged, but also because the CS at retailers will generally not have a clue what you are talking about!).

The TCB relationship/contract is with the affiliate marketing network who track all sales (not directly with the supplier) - you therefore need to raise a support query with TCB who should then chase it for you. If you cleared your cookies and didn't visit any other comparison sites etc between TCB and Mobiles.co.uk and noted your transaction number etc, it should have tracked and hopefully they should be able to trace it (I had the same issue with a transaction not being tracked into my account on insurance with another cashback site and they successfully chased it through the affiliate network - it was apparently a later reporting issue on the data feed) .

    Good luck

well, perhaps against my better judgment, i ordered a phone from mobiles.co.uk.

i notice that my order summary has no mention of the actual line rental involved in my deal (it claims my chosen tariff is charged at "£0.00/month"). is this normal?
