vanquis card

I applied for a vanquis card, they wrote to me today asking for a copy of either my passport or driving licence. I called them and said I dont have a copier they said that they can takemy passport number over the phone. What is it they can check with the passport number? Also if they are asking for this does it mean I am likely to get the card?

your identity can be checked electronically if it is a british passport.

yes it is a british passport. can they get the address? as my passport went to my mums house which is a different address, thats the only thing that concerns me.

I'm pretty confident if they are asking for ID that you have been - on the basis they get satisfactory ID

A passport is proof of identity, not address. To prove address they would need a bill or statement of some sort. This is why you are asked generally for proof of identity and address.

can they get the address from the passport as it is was sent to my mums house?

these people are cowboys, they called and said that I need to send proof of address as that is "flagging" now!
