  • If it still looks like paint clumps, ie you havent rubbed it in, wait for it to dry and then use sandpaper!

If you have rubbed it in then i am really not sure if you can remove it but i'm sure someone else will come along with an answer soon xx

  • When I bought my steam cleaner ages ago, I was surprised when it got some old and previously un-removable gloss paint marks out of the carpet. Maybe worth a go if you've got one or can borrow one? Try it on a hidden bit of the carpet first though in case it melts it :)

Edited to add that the marks I removed with the steam cleaner had previously been rubbed in. A lot.
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!

I've managed to get properly dried in globs of gloss paint out of carpet with a steam cleaner before now. It softens it up and you can pick it off.

    What's the carpet made of?

If it's wool, try paint stripper.

If it's man-made, try paint brush cleaner (the blue stuff, not white spirit)

  • Cheers guys - will try the paint stripper thing first, then if thats no good will get the carpet steam cleaned

I had that awful business when I used to have a stone coloured carpet (have just floorboards now). I had to "shave" the paint off ever so carefully, but then that was in a corner and I was able to cover it with a plant.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • Hi Quasar,

    Thanks for the reply.

My carpets are cream and the paint is white so it totally shows!

I could cry, my boyfs sister suggested I cut it out with scissors but the pile isnt long so would leave massive bald patches.

We plan to get new carpets but are saving up at the moment...

I have dark grey aluminium paint on mine. I'm a bit stuffed I think... so you're not alone!

scrap it carefully with a razor blade, its amazing how much you can lift off. Don't overdo it or it will result in a bald patch.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
