What to buy for my 90yr old auntie for her birthday?

What about making up a hamper with nice foody bits from Marks and Spencer, which she won't be able to get if she lives abroad.
Things like good coffee and tea, their range of jams and preserves are yummy, a nice tin of scottish shortcake biscuits, savoury biscuits/crackers, tins of salmon, those individual bottles of wine, etc. Posh stuff so it doesn't look like a food-parcel!
Does she like reading, or if her sight is not good enough what about some talking books and something to play them on? My mum is 86 and loves doing small cross stitch kits.
Let us know what you decide - I'm soo nosey

What about an audio book and some treats to sit and listen to it with?0

Hi,
Thanks for all the ideas, I quite like the idea of getting her a warm blanket and some sweeties. She is diabetic, has been all her life so it has to be diabetic sweets and chocs. Don't think the calendar with nude men on it would be useful, she might end up praying for me in the church, me and my naughty thoughts
.
I don't really want to give her flowers, she will get enough at the party, I just want her to have something which she will use on a daily basis.
thanks again for your thoughts.0 -
I agree with Eric's mum - small hamper of items from Marks and Spencer.0

How about a personalised calendar ? I bought one for my gran when she was 100 and she still has it (now 103!!!) I have since bought them for many friends and they always are very well received I think the one on the link below would be great for an old lady

Edit...and the best bit is that you can have them start ANY month so perfect for a birthday !I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0 -
I'd second the personalised calendar idea. You can scan old family pictures as well as use more recent ones. I often use these, personalised diaries & coasters for older family members. I have used photobox often & always been pleased, also recently used prezzybox.0

for our nan's 80th, we got a photo album with a picture of each family member and asked each family to write a message in the book next to their name. She kept it on her sideboard and looked at it often, I don't know if thats possible for you if you do not live close to other family members?0

What about taking her to afternoon tea at a really top-class "posh" hotel?0

I got my gran on her 90th a soft toy!It was an owl and she loves it. Maybe nice if she got rid of stuff when she moved abroad?"If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0
