  • Thanks PDD I feel sooooo much better, I'm actually in control at the moment and we've got OUR money in the bank. It would of taken 83 years just to pay off Halifax according to the calculator:eek:

    Hi Everyone,

What a gorgeous day it's been here in sunny Devon (I live on the edge of Dartmoor - another location for house swaps maybe!!)

Happyhaddock - Well done you! :j You're on the road now!

It's been over 2 weeks since I sent my token payments in with the CCCS form, I've not had anything back from anyone yet! Is this good or bad?? I went online to my old (overdrawn) Halifax bank account and saw that they have now changed the overdraft facility to 0! So I'm guessing they've received the paperwork!

In fact the only mail I've had is a default letter from Marks and Spencer which I have of course just filed), and confirmations of the Direct Debit changes! And I still had that sinking feeling at first when I was opening them - must be psychological, all these years of wondering who was after money. And it's been a whole week without phone calls! Joy...!!

It's great to know that you guys are out there, and that I'm not the only one, and you are all there to share and support! Just reading through some of the pages really helped me.

Now to get on with my nice glass of chilled white!! :)

    Hi Mama

Agree withNorthumberland, fantastic beaches and totally empty!
West Coast of Scotland is very beautiful, quiet but unfortunately verrrry expensive and it lacks amenities. They think you will just look at the scenery and not want to eat , drink, go to the loo...... Looked at a cottage yesterday online, beautiful overlooking summer isles, quiet, pub along the road, £802 FOR A WEEK. Had to lie down for a while......

WOW that must have been a very nice cottage.

Hey Ill swap my Northumberland pad but you'll have to like kids :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Luckily my MILs got a static caravan near Berwick and the Scottish borders, all we can afford at the mo. And it saves on packing lots esp with two young kids.

Didnt get a chancet to ring CCCS back today, might try tomorrow.

God could you imagine actually spending all that time trying to pay off a debt. Id hate to think that Id still have all this debt when I was a pensioner!

Hi as you know posted DMP notifications and token payments this morning. Rang CCCS tonight to set up DD for 1st April. Queried my overdraft with my current bank being on my creditors list as I'm not using it so should it be there. Guy said not and has removed it he said to close my bank account but I have 3 DD's to move and child benefit/tax credits couldnt confirm that my next payment would definately be paid into my new bank account with coop. Once this has been sorted I will close it and my savings account with all £1.67 of it. Plus side I should have some money left this month to put aside for birthdays which is just as well my son is 8 in 3 weeks.

Evening all, I am freaking out. I have sent paperwork to CCCS, token payments to go tomorrow and truecall installed, BUT I feel really uneasy about leaving the house incase my husband (who doesn't quite know the extent of my debt, just that I'm trying to clear it) gets hold of the post before me. I can't bring myself to own up, I feel so stupid but then I think he must be stupid too if he thinks I had the cash for all the stuff I bought over the years. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! Deep breaths.......

Twitchy is an understatement!!! I didn't sleep well at all last night. Everything seems to be going to plan so I can't explain why, its like the night after I first had my LBM. Since I done the debt remedy I've slept better than I had in ages but now it is becoming a reality I am getting panicky:eek:

Does anyone know anything about full and final settlements? My Dad says he may be able to offer a lump sum by the end of the year to help pay some of my debts and if we could make a percentage offer, even better. What sort of percentage is likely to be accepted? I'm not getting my hopes up though, I've heard this all before, hence the spiralling debt that daddy promised to help with!!!

  • I have heard of offers around 20-30% if the debt has been passed to a DCA, or if you have anything with MBNA they are apparently keen to do a deal. I have started feeling the same as you ljm, my daughters new bed arrived today (ordered just before LBM) and got to pay for it (£250) somehow got to find the money..........arrrgggghhh! So chin up, we'll all get thru this together.

That good to know, I just want to be free from my debts so I can start saving and set a good example to my kids, they are still young enough to undo the consumerism damage.
