They subsidise your first box, subsequent boxes are not.

    Correct!
You get one box subbed by BIB,You'd also need an Octo LNB & Cabling & Sky are'nt going to give you £300 odd kit (box,LNB ect) plus installer manhours for free!
They're in the business to make money, not loose it.

I'm struggling to believe that you can spell a relatively complex word such as appreciated entirely correctly but haven't apparently yet mastered the spelling of with, when, of or having. Is that what you were wanting us to bear with? I'm presuming that 2wards instead of towards is just an accidental lapse in to text speech and installation is a hard enough word that I can obviously forgive getting that wrong.

Returning to your problem you may find that switching to using a Humax or Panasonic Freesat PVR (avoid Grundig, Sagem or Goodmans as they are poorly made) with no further ongoing monthly subscription cost is the best way to go if Sky are going to make you pay for all the addditional cabling and installation work. i did not have to pay for my first box or the second box that i have as a valued customer who pays their bills on time i thought that this was a bit steep if they had said you only need to pay for installing it then that would be fair enough!

secondly i haven`t come on here for my spelling and grammar and so on to be nit picked at, obviously people knew what i was on about so i do not see a problem..maybe i do go into "text writing" and so on but not everyone was born with a dictionary in their mouth..all i wanted to know was if there was a way round not having to pay the full two hundred odd that`s all!
  • So lets get this right you pay around £45 quid a month for a full subscription plus £10 a month for multiroom so £55 pm so £660 a year JUST FOR TV !! they give you the first box free and might have subsidised your sky+ and now you want them to give you another sky+ plus an octoLNB (not cheap) and a man to come and install it absolutely free

I cant even afford a sky subscription let alone that lot i wonder if curry's would give me a free tv if i asked them i know this is moneysavingexpert but geez talk about wanting something for nothing if you can afford the subscriptions on that lot you can afford to pay for the new box etc.

To be honest, no, not from Sky.

You could pick up a second hand box off Ebay, but you'll still need the octo LNB and someone to install it.

Remember there's also another £10/month for another multiroom sub.

  • Have you thought about self help?

You know what equipment you now need: other posters have indicated this.

You currently have an LNB with 4 outputs: each Sky+ box requires two of them, as such a receiver has two tuners. Your standard digibox needs another output. This totals five, hence the need for an octo LNB. Unfortunately, this is not a cheap bit of kit.

The one you need is the Sky octo version, £39.99

    Fitting is relatively easy.

You then need another Sky+ box. Ebay is your best bet.

Finally, you need some satellite cable, preferably the shotgun type and some F connectors.

I have no idea if Sky will give you another mirror subscription for £10.

  • Do the kids really need Sky+? Would a normal digibox not suffice?

i did not say i want it for free i was just suprised the amount they want to charge seeing as i am allready a sky customer and have been for a long time
they have freeview on their telly but it is no the same as having sky

regardless of how much i pay for it that is my choice and no one elses if i can afford it then that is down to me!
i think the comment about getting a free tv has nothing to do with the question that i asked i dont expect things for free and pay my way in life!!!!
