What is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy?

This is all new to me as my 6 yo son has yet to lose his, however, he has his first dentist appointment tomorrow (I know I know, bad mother, bad phobia, never took him:o ) and I suspect that 2 of those back peggies will have to go. I like the idea of the little ornaments rather than money being left, he rather likes little ornaments, pebbles and shells etc, he has loads on his window sill that relatives have bought him back from holiday.
Good suggestion,:dance::dance: £2 savings - so far £20 :dance:0 -
I used to get 20p! Family I know give £20 PER TOOTH :eek: :eek: :eek:
A little extreme methinks.......May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch...:D0 -
Well the going rate for me when I was younger was 20p for a little tooth and 50p for a big tooth. After a few years it went up to 50p for a little tooth and £1 for a big tooth.
A child in my class came in the other and said the tooth fairy had left him £10 for his tooth! I said that the tooth fairy must have made a mistake and he should hand me the money...he said no....Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:

£1 while she believed in toothfairy to the age of 10 ish, but she did try the line "Katie gets £2 from the toothfairy":o
I only owned upto the Easter bunny when she was 9, then toothfairy at 10 and FC at 11. She did ask me if I had anything else to declare when I owned upto being the toothfairy.:D
I too used to leave little sparkly notes from Toothfairy, I put glitter nail polish on a piece of paper saying thank you. I didn't sprinkle glitter on her pillow incase she inhaled it.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

my kids dont really believe in tooth fairy,easter bunny father xmas etc.My partner thinks it's misleading and lying to them, and so overly commercialised.I'm of mixed feeling because I enjoyed believing in these things,even when a little older and new the score , I enjoyed playing along with it for younger siblings. But I also believed in ghosts,monsters,elves,vampires and other imaginary things that made seriously bad nightmares.My kids dont seem to get nightmares and know we are honest to them about all things,so I dont know which is the best way ??!!
My kids still get £1 out of us when they loose a wobbly tooth,and they get to keep the tooth,rather than donate to the building of fairy-tooth-brick-castles like I believed thet went to!0 -

My OH is the same he said when we have kids he doesn't want to lie to them. I don't think he ever had these things when he was growing up, but I did and it was so nice to believe in.0 -
Bah humbug. I think it's a magical part of childhood believing in FC & TF. EB was a new one on me introduced by a classroom assistant in infant school. My DD didn't resent the fact we lied to her, just as we didn't resent our parents. She is quite amused at our efforts to surprise her etc. I still remember the magic of looking in the sky on Xmas eve to see Santa and his reindeers.:cool:
It is hardwork playing Santa and hoping you can create a magical experience but it's part of the fun of being a parent. Also the child can feel left out as you will find there is always one in the class who knows there is no Santa but the other kids ridicule him/her as they totally believe.:o~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

My mum never let on til I left home that she was Santa, and I never asked cos I didn't want to stop getting stockings!
Personally I think it's taking away a bit of their childhood magic not playing along with these things. Sure, they figure it out sooner or later, but so be it, let them enjoy the magic whilst they can. I remember the excitement of it all, and it's what makes Christmas special for me now - recreating it for my children
Wrt the original post, the tooth fairy round here is rather stingy too - 50p for all teeth here, it might go up to a squid for back ones...if they're lucky. :rolleyes:Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23 :eek: All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit).
