  • Can anyone give me instructions for heating those Holland's pies (the ones from the 40p freezer a while ago) to stop the pastry going hard? I've tried heating them according to the intructions on the packet both from frozen and from chilled, but my DH (who wears dentures) complained that the pastry was too hard at the edges. I haven't tried microwaving them, because any pies I've tried microwaving before have finished up with cardboardy pastry.

Hollands are the norm in manchester and Ive always known the pastry to be hard as you say, really crunchy. I think its so it can be eaten by hand down't mill :)

I suppose ovening for a bit then microwaving at the end should soften them off
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I place them on kitchen towel on plate, microwave for about 2 minutes. The kitchen towel stops them getting hard and they taste really good.

just got back from a friday afterwork visit to netto and farm foods.

Ben and Jerry Mint icecream with 40%ex free 1.25, tried the vermonster a few weeks back and it was a bit rich. Wanted mint then but none in.

Also recommend the sharwoods chicken balti rmeal with a nann 1-1.25 - no rice but they do 2 for 1£ on the micro pouches.

Have to say the are a good place for a bargain, but you have to watch the dates on the boxes when you buy the cheap branded stuff as thats how they get it so cheap. Although if you eat it then no problems :D
I have to buy magnums for my mum as she is too much of a snob to go in there:p

While on the bargain hunt, someone asked about booze but ff dont sell any.
However Nettos are great for a good beer/wine deal. Today i got a bottle of hardys voyage red which was 2.99, which is a great deal. They always have a good deal between 2.99 and 3.99. Currently have banrock for 2.99 and rosemount red/whites for 3.69 which are 7£ in the bigboys normally.
