But my old Maestro Card had a £250 Cheque Guarantee on it, this crabby Visa Card has £100, that is not better, that is worse.
Apparently Visa max is £100.
Never had a problem using my Maestro anywhere.
Anyway, I am hogging NIDs thread, so I had better shut up.:D
The cheque guarentee facility will be phased out next year anyway, so it doesn't really matter.0 -

VISA cards can have a £250 guarantee just like Maestro -
If you check Barclays Premier Life details they say upto £250 cheque guarantee, and of course, that's a VISA card... Must just be a limitation of HSBC or your internal limits have dropped a littleCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks, that has cheered me up no end..
Seriously, my internal limits havn't dropped, or at least they shouldn't have done.
I would sooner have no CGC than move to Barclays.;)0 -

Is it linked to a " paid for " account ?0 -
That particular one is, but Barclays offer a £250 Visa CG card on standard current accounts that have high enough internal limits... atleast they did not so long ago as my old Boss has one.
Silver debit card, not black like the premier life one, with £250 CG.
Might be the old Premier account before they introduced Premier Life, not sure TBH, possible Barclays have phased it out, too?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I know exactly what you mean.
I have held two cashcard accounts with Barclays for over six months now so wanted to replace them with Current accounts.
The first one I opened in branch on Friday, took an hour waiting, then half an hour with a manager that was linking it to a cashcard account so the computer kept bombing out, so I had to come back, the next person was making the same mistake, and eventually got fixed, so I asked her to open the second current account so I can close both cashcards.
Still no sign of the second account but god only knows how many credit searches over the last few days - turns out four applications have been put through two declined (no surprises there!).
Just had a call from the complaint handler to tell me the a/c number and sort code for the second current a/c so I can change my DDs over, so he read out my existing cash card a/c number... pointed out his flaw... so he read out the first current a/c number... corrected him again... he said he has to call the branch to get it "sanctioned" and will call be back in a min.
What's the bet that the branch will make the same mistake, try to link it to the cash card a/c, generate another search, and bring me back to square one?
If my credit score was good enough I'd be off to another bank quicker than you could say "Barclays are AIDS" but when you have a credit file like mine you accept the poor CS if you are given the type of a/c you ask for...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Oh dear, I feel guilty about moaning about HSBC/Visa now.:o
Good luck with Barclays.;)0 -
You could try taking in the certificate from your insurance as it should have your name and address on it, also a passport and full driving license (this is if you have any of these - all acceptable ID I'd wager)** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.
