A friend of mine gave me a tip for getting rid of cold callers. When asked what you are currently paying (for phone, utilities etc) just ask them to hold on a sec whilst you get your last bill. Put the phone down on the side and carry on with what you're doing. They get fed up and hang up when they realise you're not coming back on the phone.
I do this too now,I say I will go and fetch the houseowner, the last time they stayed hanging on for 10 minutes..pmsl..0 -

if its good i'll go though a cashback site (and explain it to them:D) wether they want to listen or not:rotfl:
if its bad I'll put a warning on the forum thats read by a few million people:A

I had a call today telling me I had won a holiday again,
having nothing else to do, retirement is wonderfull, I started stringing him along, answering all his questions, using a fake name and details obviously, 8 people going on holiday etc, then it came to the important question!
Do you have a credit card?
No says I they don't allow me one because I am a registered bankrupt.
He hung up on me, no goodbye or anything:mad:

I get none of these calls. I thought being TPS registed blocks them.
The only ones I get are from organisations I'm associated with (my banks etc). Plus some overseas boiler room type calls- however I get so few of those.0 -
If you ever get people trying to sell you a conservatory ask them to come round and give you a quote.
Tell them your address if flat 7, third floor, Nelson Mandela house!0 -
i told the time share people i had A. P. A. C. H. E. a serious a$$ bergers type disorder that meant i would greatly enjoy the sixty nine pound holiday in staffordshire with its "award winning" restaurant but could not tolerate more than five minutes of the ninety minute sales talk i would be expected to attend without some violent out burst :money:
(and my apologies to real sufferers of A.P.A.C.H. E. like my imaginery friend "Benjey") :money:squaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -

When I lived with my mum during college, we got loads of these sales calls.
My favourite one - trying to sell us kitchens, my mum replied after a minute of listening, sorry I've already got a kitchen and hung up.
You can do the same for windows or other things. I wasted this guys time once for 15 minutes as I was bored. I just kept telling him how I was paying cheaper than what he was offering.
Actually 3 called me (got a mobile contract with them) and they tried selling me broadband with a free laptop. I asked what kind of laptops they were, I told them I was very particular about what laptop I wanted and how its a very high spec and HAS to a Sony lol (in reality Sony laptops don't seem great though lol). The guy got bored after a while.0
