Faulty item help

I purchased an item on eBay and when received it was faulty. At the sellers request i have sent the item back to which i was informed i could have a refund and he would refund my postage costs as well. The item was sent back via Royal Mail Special Delivery as the item is expensive.

The seller today contacts me and says that he can see nothing wrong with the item so will therefore refund the auction cost minus the p+p costs to him and will not be refunding my return costs.

The seller is a business seller and has 100% feedback score.

I am not really happy as the item was faulty and i returned it at his request. I am currently out of pocket by £14.69.

Any advise of what to do?

Open an item not as described dispute and escalate show your tracking info in the dispute Paypal will be able to refund the original postage and the item cost but not the return postage as paypal can only refund what was originally paid, but at least you'll be less out of pocket

Then you can leave appropriate feedback and DSRs
  • Does it matter that the seller has already issued refund, minus postage costs and 2p of the auction item cost for some reason.

so you bought item and paid for postage to come to you..that is what i believe you would only get refunded through PP.If it costs you £14+ to return it, i dont believe you will get that back.

no they will only get the postage for the item being sent to them in the first place
  • I have filed a dispute but there is no where for me to input that i have already sent the item back and provide the tracking number. I did try to reason with the seller but he is refusing saying he has lost alot of money on this item now.

I understand that i will not get my return costs back but its better to be £6 down rather then £14
