Has anyone sent their passport off to tax credits before?

Hi all, I have just wrote a letter of complaint to them - hopefully they will respond quicker than they have dealt with the passport. This is really stressing me out now.:(0

I spend quite a lot of time certifying copies of docs for friends and family.
You could always pop into your local solicitors and see if they will do you some certified copies, they might make a small charge but if you use the firm anyway I suspect they will do the for free.
I hate sending original docs off and will always ask them if they will accept a certified copy.
HMRC ask for originals only.0 -
Quick update. It seems that the postcode I sent the passport to is actually the child benefits office. So I just rang them and the advisor said that they have recieved a passport from me but it was German???? My passport is a UK one, I have no clue where this German one has come from.
They said they would get the Child Benefit Head Office to call me within 24 hours so hopefully I will get some further information.0 -

Perhaps CB said the passport was ingermane, not in German
. Meaning that it was irrelavent to your Child Benefit Claim and the office did not know why you sent it.
Hope you get it back soon.I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed. Booker T Washington

I would never send my passport to this shower, it's clear when you speak to them over the phone they they don't have a clue. It's obvious from the number of times that they lose other information that they would lose your passport almost immediately after receiving it.0

If you are asked for information and you don't provide it they can terminate the claim - would you prefer that?0 -

And what if you don't have a passport? Not everyone does!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
You can explain that to them - normally passports are only requested for those not born in the UK.
You cannot refuse to provide information without good reason. Not ever having a passport would be good reason. Other ID may be requested instead.0 -

Maybe this was on my file then and the advisor was misunderstood. Anyhoots I recieved a call from the Child Benefits Head Office who basically told me they cant help me and it is the tax credits who will have my passport, they suggested I ring them back.
Rang them back, as per usual the person fed me a load of old tripe so what I have done is sent a letter of complaint in, and in the meantime Im going to be paying 112.50 for a new passport
Not to mention that I have to by my twins passports aswell for 97.50 each via the fast track system
:(
So, what began as a free surprise holiday paid for by our parents has cost me over £300 before Ive even left the house.....0 -

Have you tried your MP ? They are usually quite hot on sorting out problems with the TCO - one phone call from him may result in your passport being quickly located and returned to you !!!
Does the passport office re issue replacement passports that aren't technically lost ?
Hope everything gets sorted quickly.0
