I have sent another letter but am quite bored of waiting and wish to submit a claim for the PPI now! Are there any drawbacks of not finding out before-hand how much PPI you've paid throughout the period. I'm in no danger of reaching limitation.

    Thanks

    Hi there

Not a problem at all, I would not wait, and send them a letter now, you have your reasons, so go for it.
    Good luck.
If successful they must or should provide the breakdown details to you.

    Hi there

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, you should as well receive an acknowledgement letter anytime, good luck.;)

    Hello All,

Finally received a response from Lloyds: it's an odd one!

They have asked me to sign a settlement agreement, but have not told me the figure. Only assuring me that any figure will be in line with what the FOS would award.

Obviously I'm not particularly keen to sign it because it then gives them leeway to pluck any figure out of thin air.

What should I do? This is my draft response:

Thank you for your letter dated XX July 2010, which I have read with some interest.

Whilst I am more than happy to settle this claim without the involvement of the Ombudsman, I cannot possibly accept any offer without knowing the calculation and value of the same. I need to be assured that any offer is inclusive of PPI payments, interest incurred plus simple interest at 8%, such as that a court would award, in line with the County Court Act 1984.

I look forward to hearing your response.

    Hi there

    Well done.

did they state this was upheld in your favour, and that it will be calculated inline with the FOS?

Is so then you will receive ALL you have paid in ppi, interest, also 8% interest of what a court would award.

With one of mine, they did make a bit of mistake on the calculation, when received the breakdown but they did put it right.

You could send them an email to ask if they would be able to send you a figure, tell them you require this in order to make your decision, hopefully they will respond with something for you.

They did say that they they would settle in in line with the FOS, but should I not be wary of accepting an offer that I don't know?

I rang the ombudsum for advice and the lady said that I should enquire what the calculation is because otherwise how else should I know whether to accept it.

Hi there, this is fos standard pay back, di is right and if they calculate this is wrong they will put it right.
