The discount is only on the plan price. So, yes a £30 plan would be £24.
The cost of the phone isn't changed (I believe), I can't find my code at the moment to check !..

If anyone is with a company that has a corporate O2 account then you can get some discount through the O2 Open scheme they offer. However, you need to check with your company first if they are on it and I think they changed the conditions recently and made the deal a bit crap. Better than nothing though.

To anyone thinking of getting a new iPhone at the mo, just remember that the great and good at Apple are releasing the info on the G4 version next Weds, which should be in the stores May/June.
The speculation is, new case design, up to 128 gig memory with some models having hard drives, a touch sensitive case ? and 5 meg camera. (if you believe the speculation).
But would you want to go into a 2 year contract a few day before the spec of the new ones known ??

i knew there are speculations of a new one, but didn't know spec was to be announced soon.

if the 3g is still continuing and still as expensive alongside the 3gs, i can imagine the 4g having a massive premium. also i like gadgets, but not a fan of buying when in new introduction stage, due to high cost and teething problems.

but be livid if signed to a 24 month contract and for such a high tariff when could have gone for 4g, but then who knows when that will be available.

if you went for a 3gs now, in 24 months the 4g will have teethed out all issues and probably onto 4gs etc.

Possibly, may be in reaction to Google's nexus one, but the biggest rumour is the iSlate will be the star of the show and the phone announced in June at the worldwide developers conference as they have in the past. Be unlike Apple not to get as much PR as possbiel by sperate big hype showcase announcements.

I also suspect that if they announce it then 3G will just get pulled and the 3GS become the base model at the same price and the 4G become the premium model, at the premium price. Not sure about a hard drive, I'd have though the power requiremnts would have made it mean the battery liffe will be lousy, or they have to either pull a magic rabbit out of a hat for power managment, or serioulsy upgrade the battery. Either way it will be far bulkier than the google phone that will probably become it's main rival.

But in 24 months (if Apple keep to the same plan as the last few years) the G6 will be about to be announced... and probably the iSlate v3 (with Apples new ithought interface for really instant messaging )
