Mobile contract cancellation period
I know all about your cancellation period due to distance selling regs, but what if you take out a new mobile contract from a store?
My friend has just taken out a new contract from a vodafone store and they're completely screwing her, so much so that i'm not going to get involved to try and help her out i just want to clarify the position for cooling off period when bought instore before hand.
Apparently she's spoken to Vodafone on the phone and they're claiming there's no such thing as a cooling off period, i find this highly unlikely so all advice would be greatly appreciated
cheers

No cooling if bought in store.0

I'm sorry to say but Vodafone are correct, no cooling off period when purchased in store.0

That's terrible! If she feels that she's been missold the phone however she can make a complaint to Vodafone and if no luck then to Otelo.
It may be worth checking Ofcoms website with regards to cooling off periodsMinds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

Really??? I'm really surprised at that. It's strange but it's things like MMS messaging hasn't been enabled on her contract, they never offered her it and she never thought about asking, they now claim it can't be enabled it can only be done at the start of the contract
Same with her PAC code they say as she didn't provide them with a PAC when she signed the contract they can't change the number afterwards.
These are simple things i would have thought but they're claming there's nothing they can do now0 -
Vodafone will only PAC numbers in if you supply the number at the point of sale. Regarding the MMS, I find it hard to believe, I would ring them again to see if you can get more sense out of another CS advisor.0

There is no cooling off period if you obtain a mobile phone contract in store; the cooling off period only extends to telephone/internet sales, sorry!0

Cooling off for instore purchases is down to store policy, Vodafone policy is no returns/refunds after sale.
MMS can be enabled and disabled thought-out the contract. Contact vodafone on the phone 191.
PAC codes can only be done at the start, vodaphone is the only one with this policy but it has been confirmed here by a vodafone rep that, that is it, if you do not PAC at the start, you can never PAC. Vodafone have always been like this, and most likely it would have been on the application form. But once the contract is started there is no way to transfer the number.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks for all the info folks. I'm really amazed at some of Vodafone's policies (i've always refused to deal with them previously, that'll certainly continue to be my attitude after this) How can the biggest operator in the world have such archaic practices compared to their rivals?!0

This is why you should always get a contract online / over the phone.
It gives you a lot more rights.
Im amazed that people still go to shops to get them, more often than not online tariffs are alot better.0 -

Oh i know mate i would never dream of doing it in the shop, not sure what she was thinking about. I guess she just assumed she'd still have some kind of rights purchasing that way....as did i to be honest0
