Moody's 2010 Diary

Options
Ok my plan this year is to tackle my debts again!
This diary is mainly to motivate me to tackle this massive debt and hopefully I can get on top of it.

Current debts as of January 2010:

Description....................Debt......Limit.... .APR
Lloyds Classic CC..............2040......2300......19.5
Lloyds Advance CC..............8500......9000......15.75
Halifax CC.....................5400......7000......6.9
Loan...........................5800............... .7.95
Barclaycard CC.................1670......2100......6.9
Total unsecured debts..........23410.....498.......-

That's about the half of it.

I fairly recently opened up an A&L account and am waiting on the £100 cashback. Additionally I have 2 Halifax Reward accounts giving me an additional £10 a month to play with.
I also am waiting on a bonus that can go onto my Lloyds card, but have my yearly travelcard to pay (will have to use the Advance card for this as the others are LOTB).
I have been promised a payrise at work too, so hopefully this can help toward our debt problems.

I have not included my student loan, since I do not earn enough to pay it off, so can continue to defer it. Once all the other debts are paid off I will tackle the student loan.

Oh forgot to say I am waiting on an application I made for a 0% APR card for 12 months to be approved. Fingers crossed!
Waiting for a LOTB BT to clear onto the Barclaycard (which will take it to the limit). Recently been declined an increase in credit on the Barclaycard annoyingly.

Got my refusal letter today from Barclaycard for a credit increase (boo!).
Still no news on the other cards. The sooner I can get these debts moved over to low APR LOTB cards the better.
Will try to update this at least once a week.
Still scratching my head on how to make some cash. I have a load of books and old magazines. I will have to look into ebay!
Another NSD. The water fountain at work is finally working again, so I can start to make tea and coffee again rather than paying out for things!

Hey Moody just wanted to pop by and say hello. There are some threads on here to help you make cash, the make £10 a day could be helpful. I still need to list stuff on ebay, keep telling myself I will but never get round to it.

good luck on your journey hun.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into that.
My main problem lately is resisting the temptation to use my card on something when I have it (like getting a latte or whatever). Easiest way is not to have it with me, and pocket money for exactly what I need for the day. It's tough. Honestly I have had so many NSD's though!

Small update. A&L account is now up and running, so I can start doing all the transfers soon!
Hopefully can get my Lloyds card attacked this month. Want to wait on my pay before I do anything though.
Need to speak to water supplier about the bill. Think they have us on a higher band than we're meant to be on.

Called the Water company about our charges and was spun a line about the value of the property etc effects the price. May look into a water meter if it is cost effective, and the landlord agrees to it.
Need to keep an eye on payments due to the transfer of my direct debits etc. Crossing my fingers for no headaches.

Been a bit busy to go online the last few days with work etc, but have managed to save a bit of cash the last few days.
    1. Keeping up walking to work
    2. Keeping up with packed lunches
    3. Converted Sainsbury's points to cash for the shopping
    4. Moved all the money about, hopefully that five minute job will earn me £5 for each of my Halifax accounts, and £100 for the A&L. Either way should get £10 free money this month if nothing else.

Averse to buying my travelcard till I have sorted out the bills/moved things around.

Called A&L. Bad news. Didn't get the 0% card for some reason. Supposedly can appeal once I receive the letter. Gutted now, as I don't really want to spend £1200 this year to the credit card companies.
Need to call Lloyds and see if they can reduce the current interest rates. Worth a shot.
