Moody's 2010 Diary

  • Oddly I am £10 worse off than when I had my LBM 13 months ago. Oddly though I feel much more comfortable than I did then. Our bills are less than last year and we have paid the TV license up to October, so we should have more cash (hopefully) to throw toward the debt. I have done a full financial checkup and I know exactly where our money goes each month. Additionally my parents are now receiving all the pension they should be getting, and I have also helped a number of friends gain thousands from PPI reclaims. I feel a lot more capable than I did this time last year. Despite how busy I am at work I will try and maintain this diary at least once a month.

So much for feeling more comfortable. In the passed month I have learned that I have to start paying back my student loan, so things are no longer as comfortable as they once were. While I have paid the TV license til October, that will come round in no time though. Somehow we will still need to find £120 a month extra from somewhere. I think we can reduce the food/supplies to about £240 but it will be a struggle (that would mean we are only £60 down). This is so depressing.

Last time we reduced the grocery bills down to £150 I started to get sick so I won't be doing that again. I'll make a diary of our shopping over the next month and see if there's anyway we can cut the costs. Meanwhile I need to look at other work opportunities. I need to find a way to get sustainable monthly income additional to what we have in order just to start overpaying the high APR card again.

Current debts as of May 2010:

    Description....................Debt......Limit.... .APR
    Lloyds Advance CC..............9600......10800......20
    Halifax CC.....................7650......8000......6.9
    Loan...........................3100............... 7.95
    Barclaycard CC.................1200......1800......6.9
    OD.............................1000............... .0

    Total unsecured debts..........22550

Loan hasn't come out yet so actually will be under 3000 this month! Also the Lloyds debt is finally constantly under 10k despite the terrible APR, and will be paying more to that this month.

Also I realise that this isn't being paid off very fast but we haven't really had much left over at the end of the month.

Things have been tight but we have managed to work things the last few months. Little worried about the next couple of months but I should be getting some overtime paid to me in the next few months (it was a month or so ago but it takes a long time to go through payroll etc). No matter it will come and will go toward the debt.

It's just a shame things are worse than they were than August last year financially despite having more income. I am determined to get this debt down.
