I have now phoned bt and they are coming to fit a line in feb. but its gonna cost £122 instulation but to be honest im past caring.
BT now have a free new phone line installation offer running for the next few weeks as detailed in today's Moneysavingexpert.com money saving email. See www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/free-BT-line-installation The only condition is that its an 18 month minimum contract.
I suggest you ring BT and cancel the current new line order (I don't think they can probably charge you if you cancel before its already been installed) and then re-order a free new line a day or two later using the current BT special offer.
Regarding Sky I'm glad you have finally seen sense about having any further dealings with this appalling ripoff company (as I'm sure your long suffering husband also is). They are an utter nightmare with their telephone tag game nonsense to get anything done when customers should just be able to manage the whole thing efficiently online.
Why not get yourself a BBC/ITV Humax or Panasonic Freesat HD PVR (see www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=products.Products&type_id=3) and plug the cables from the Sky dish (presumably its got a double cable as it was for Sky+) in to that. This Freesat HD box also has season passes etc and a hard drive like Sky+ and can also get BBC HD and ITV HD and hopefully in due course Channel 4 HD.
There is no monthly subscription to pay. You basically get all the Free To Air channels you could get on a Sky box (that is all the channels you didn't the viewing card in the slot for) for zero pounds per month plus the two free HD channels.
Regarding your atrocious treatment by Sky you should have emailed the Chief Executive - jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com with cc to CRSupport@bskyb.com That usually brings most of the shambles by their customer service staff to a conclusion pretty quickly.
But you are free of them now. So why not spend the money you have saved in year one alone on a Humax or Panasonic Freesat HD box and then also have no ongoing subs to run it.:T
However don't get a Sagem, Grundig or Goodmans Freesat HD box as they will inevitably be rubbish even though they may be a bit cheaper.0
