Cancel Sky

This is the email ive just sent sky

I moved house Nov 2009. Discussed with the husband about Sky which his responce was "its aload of rubbish and a waste of money" but I talked him round. Go I wish I hadnt. I phone sky and ordered sky with 2 sky + boxes for the sitting room and bedroom. And sky talk to come and fit a phone line. I was told thats fine well fit the sky + boxes on the 27th dec and then the phone line on the 13th jan. The engineer came on the 27th and fitted 1 box in the sitting room and said he couldnt fit the other because we didnt have the phone line fitted. So I waited in on the 13th and nobody came or called my mobile.so I phoned sky off my mobile and was on the phone for over 1 hour. After speaking to 5 or 6 people and explaining over and over again.I was told it would cost another £65 so I said ok just cancel it then. So after being put on hold again I was told I couldnt cancel. So I said ok then Ill pay the money again just sort it. I was put on hold again and then spoke to another lady who said ok its sorted its booked in for the 18th. Then put on hold and then told because they had not recieved the contract they would contact me on my mobile to confirm the 18th and sent on my way. I emailed and was contacted by email pretty quick to which they confirmed its sorted they will come on the 18th jan. And hey presto an engineer came today and on time and fitted the other box, but said he wasnt there to fit the phone line. So I asked him to contact sky off his little machine which he did and after 25 mins he got through. He passed me the phone and the man said its not booked in and id have to ring sky talk. I am terrified to see my mobile bill off the last call and have now sent about 6 emails through to sky, sky talk and the ombudsmen. Please could you help me. Im very sorry that I have contacted you as I know you are probably a very busy man and have got more pressing issues than this but I just want it sorted. If my husband come home today and its still not sorted theres a chance he will just pull it all out and throw it in the wheelie bin. Please could you help me.

I copied this off sky website. Can I cancel?

You can cancel your Sky+ and Sky+HD within one calendar month of the date the equipment has been delivered or the date you received this letter, whichever is later, You can cancel Sky Broadband within eight working days of the delivery of your Sky Wireless Router or your BT activation date, whichever is later.

Sky installers cannot fit the phoneline, all they can do is install the Sky TV,BBand & internal telco extensions, the install of the phoneline is by BT Openreach on Sky's behalf.
By right's,the original box should'nt have been installed as the installer could'nt ffit the other box because of no phoneline. It sounds like your job was cancelled tho on the 27th.
Whenever you speak to anyone at Sky,get their Chordiant log-on ID number, they all have them.

Have now been on the phone again for another hour and still am getting pushed from pillar to post the engineer came back today and fitted the other box without the phone line. But still they cannot manage to book for the phone engineer to come and fit the phone line. can I cancel using the 30 day cancellation rights and will it cost?

  • I had this before, although a lot of it was BT's fault (not releasing old number).

The £65 is a charge for fitting a line for customers that aren't new.

I had to go crazy at a few managers, before they figured out that I was a new customer and had told them of my intention to have the line when we first got sky. Keep on at them, we have been happy with the service for 10 months now, was just a pain to get phone sorted in first place.

As you have to have both Sky+ boxes connected to a working phoneline to get the second box programmes fot £10 a month I'd argue that as they cannot supply the services within the time agreed when you signed up,THEY are in breach of their own terms & conditions.
When each box cant get a monthly ringback, you'll get a couple threatening letters first & then charged full price subscription for the second box.

I have now phoned bt and they are coming to fit a line in feb. but its gonna cost £122 instulation but to be honest im past caring. I think ill get free sat instead. Sky is !!!!! anyway unless your willing to pay shed loads for movies which are repeated over and over.

Best bet is,as they'll most likely leave the dish up,is go to a car boot sae or E-Bay & pick up a couple of standard boxes cheap (I paid £7 at aboot sale)

I might just sell both boxes and get a hd freesat box. Do you think they will come and take down the dish etc?
