I thought paypal were quite adamant that it is up to the sender to prove delivery not postage. Having had a parcel go astray to me last year paypal were prepeared to allow my chargeback on the basis that the tracking number is not proof of delivery. You can't even put th eparcel tracking number into the system on the Royal mail website as it is just an insurance number for them and not fully trackable.

In my case although paypal were going to reimburse my payment the parcel did turn up after nearly a month so it all ended well for both me and the seller.

Yeah i didn't really understand that either soo....the post office don't even tell you what it's for they just give you the number...anyways it worked for me and paypal before...maybe not worth the risk ???
  • VH, you could just state that due to weight of parcel, buyer picks up from your home. If you live in a big city then it should still sell.

you do get a tracking number though if you're worried about paypal chargebacks

also you could just offer local pick up (free p&p)?

    hey vh

"I am not bothered if the item sells for 99p but I don't want to make a loss on it by undercharging postage just to get rid!"

.... if you would be happy with 99p why dont you just throw it out ... by the time you take into account the listing fees, the time itll take you to wrap it, stand in a queue at post office etc ..... is it worth the hassle????

Why not advertise your item without stating the postage costs.
Put something like......buyer will be advised of postage costs prior to payment. Item weighs XXXllbs.

let them find the cost of postage. :)

This would attract even less bidders!

I never bid on anything that I don't know the full cost of postage, either from the auction details or buy emailing and asking before bidding. What's to stop them wacking on a huge charge for P&P after you have won the auction otherwise, and you have no choice but to pay up or get filed as a NPB then :(
