Yaaay! I changed phone insurance and it now costs £2.99! Bonus for me as that's less than a third of what I was paying a month.
    ** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **
    ** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
    **SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

Maz I understand what you are saying but I could sit at home on benefits and not be much worse off, so on that basis, I am still taking up a job that someone else that wouldn't be entitled to benefits might be able to do.

But then I would be using benefit money that could go to help people who weren't able to work...

I think it depends how much you like your job, and the people you work with. I barely have a social life so it's the only adult company I get. If I won the lottery I would just be rich and lonely instead of poor and lonely. :o

if i won the lottery i would SO give up work.... there are oodles of things to do that are far more fun than working... gym, swim, pampering,shopping.... honestly if money were no object, why would you carry on doing an everyday job....?

Fairy nuff some voluntary work, charidee work or whatever.

Also you're kinda denying someone who is looking for work and needs the money the chance of doing what you do.... (not sure i actually buy that one myself, but just chucking it in there)

If i had a "rich enough so i didnt need to work" husband then i might have a wee tea shop or something... except obviously i cant cook much, or bake, so it might not really work well for me!

Thats interesting - I dont really consider it a 'job' more a career now so maybe thats why - I'd love to work part time in the office (i.e. have more flexible hours like Sammy does), because at the moment its a tight squeeze with running, life, friends and work, but I'd still want to be involved with what goes on here if that makes sense :D

That's not what i'm saying snags... i said if you were stinking rich but still took up a £20k a year job for the sanity, kudos or whatever, then you are technically denying someone who could be in poverty and looking for that very job....

like i said, not sure i actually believe that, but it is a point of view...

in your case cause you're not stinking rich are you (are you??), so you're absolutely doing the right thing by working and not claiming benefits when you could do and not be much worse off......
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

We basically came to the conclusion it depends if you have a 'job' or a career/ vocation - my mate is a mental health nurse and she can't imagine not doing it at all (although she did say she would do less hours too).
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.
