Salt in food?
Comments

Hi
I don't add much to food I am preparing, but do always have it available on the table for people to add if they want - working on the principle that people can put it on their food if they want it, but can't take it off if I've put it in the cooking.
On the whole, I think it is up to you. If you don't eat a lot of processed food you're probably ok anyway so don't worry too much about it!0 -
I don't really add salt to anything - I'll taste stuff before I serve it but generally I don't add additional salt, because once you get used to not-very-salty food you find you don't need it. We arely eat ready meals but I can really taste the salt when I do - same with 'shop' bread, I'm so used to my own that even the decent stuff tastes salty, and 'plastic' bread is inedible to me, as it just tastes of salt.0

I hardly ever add any salt, trouble is when I'm feeling lazy and want to use a bottled sauce of one kind or another they are soooooo salty...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I add hardly any. I even keep fogetting to add a little to the water for spaghetti or potatoes. I do have some in the cupboard, but it's that low sodium (ie. half sodium chloride, half-potassium chloride) stuff. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Absolutely fascinating, thank you! From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Forgot to mention, the ONLY thing which requires lots of salt and ideally lots of vinegar - or possibly non-brewed condiment - is chips from the chip shop. Bliss.0

I haven't added salt to my food for about 20 years, there is enough salt in the food you buy. One thing I have noticed is Chinese take-away meals are loaded with salt, I end up drinking gallons of water to quench my thirst.Like good food and drink?

I cut down on my salt many many years ago.
I only use sea salt now, when cooking and add a minimal amount.
It still depresses me to see how much salt my Mother pours over her food.
True story - I once watched a US gentleman pouring salt into his lager. He could see me staring at this and he commented, " I put salt in everything I eat and drink"
I doubt it did him much good.We all evolve - get on with it0 -
I almost always add a small grind of sea salt or rock salt to home prepared food. I find that I get terrible muscle spasms and cramp if I try to do without."All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -
A woman I used to work with used to (and probably still) pour salt on everything she eats, sometimes she has more salt than chips.Like good food and drink?
