Salt in food?

An interesting discussion with a British friend led to this question -
How much salt do you put in your food?
In Poland, we seem to pour salt into everything - a dish just isn't a dish without some sort of salt added. Of course, we use fresh ingredients much more than the UK does (frozen/pre prepared food is a similar price to the UK) - which may negate the adding of salt. But I just wondered - how much do people add to their (freshly prepared) food on this forum?

From Poland...with love.

The books are sitting just there on the floor.

I cook almost everything from scratch. I use salt when making bread, pancetta and sausages. I sometimes add a little in vegetarian dishes, but not elsewhere
When you stop cooking with it, you soon adapt.
Too much salt really isn't good for you, however much fresh food you eat - that just doesn't negate the ill effects.

I dont use salt at all in cooking.
The only things a have to have salt sprinkled on is boiled egg, home grown tomatoes or roast pork sandwiches.......mmmmmmmmmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I use lo-salt, because I love salt & would eats far too much of it.0

I put in about a teaspoon of salt to a big pot of potatoes when I'm boiling them, and probably half a teaspoon to green beans, carrots or broccoli.
If I'm making bolognese sauce or chilli, I'd add about half a teaspoon of salt to the whole lot (to serve 5 people). When I cook a chicken, I don't season it at all, just rub it with olive oil and put a lemon inside.

Very little, and then I only use Lo-Salt which is two thirds potassium, making the ration sodium/potassium excellent for health.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I don't add salt to anything other than mashed potatoes and home made soup as proper chicken stock needs a little salt to lift it. I don't add it to any other home cooked meals as its not really needed if you use herbs, spices, garlic and fresh chillies
We also make most things from scratch except for sausages and bread0 -
i make all my meals from scratch nothing is pre-prepared in my house this is mainly because of allergies and also due to thats how i was brought up and nothing gets salt added to it mainly because of DD and partly because i dont like salt however my OH has more than enough salt for all of us its a saying in our house do you want some dinner with your salt lol0

Sea salt, and I add it to most things that I cook. veg, stews. stir-fry, whatever. My mum always added it to her cooking water, so I guess I've just followed on from there.0

I add salt to potatoes whne boiling for roasting, and to pork to make crackling and in the breadmaker. other than that the salt is added by the person eating the end product.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0
