Jesus, that was as hard to write as it was to read the OP...

Anyway, the toxic fume thing is engine related. So the OP's friend who knows (nothing) about cars is wrong.

Could be a duff sensor, coil pack, glow plug, injector...[/QUOTE]
can you run that by me in engleeesshhh please

could the toxic alert come from a clogged pollen filter
    I  MOJACAR

Renaults use all sorts of nonsensical warning lights for stuff that is meaningless.

Toxic Fume light on the Megane was coil pack failure, and had the same effect on the car as the OP decribes.

    thanks x

surely the car is under manufacturers warranty if you bought it on jul 09 and it was just a year old?

Why not just contact a main dealer?

Also, constructively, might you be 'in too deep' financially if you're 'at your wits end how to afford repairs'?

OP is skint - they maybe think they pay for each letter typed so tried to keep it short.

Or maybe they just can't write properly

I think they may be referring to something like an EPC warning light.

I'd be very surprised if English is the OPs first language.

I doubt I could explain the problem in any other language.

Warranty repair looks the way to go.

First off, as above, check that the car is covered by the manufacturers warranty.. most are 3 years.

If not, you might be lucky as im sure the sale of goods acts is valid for 6 months after the sale.

It might be worth also trying customer services with the manufacturer to see if they can help.

My current dealings with Arnold Clark are poor as it is, if it costs them money directly, they wont want to know.
