Basically some water got in the car and caused damage. Can they make Arnold clark pay for unspecified repairs.

No idea how the water got in either.

thanks, right then if water is coming in by the sunroof it is normally because the drain channels are blocked, get a curtain wire that is used for net curtains and run down the hole till clear,

Arnold Clarke will more than likely do nothing for you

wow and people say my grammar is bad lol.
To the OP the sunroof sounds like a dodgy seal or a blocked drain, check a forum specific for your make and model and people will be able to point you in the right direction to getting it fixed.

toxic fume monitoring warning light - never heard of that in a car before personally, again check with the forum but I can't see how toxic fumes can be related to a damp interior. Toxic fumes are normally from the exhaust so maybe you have a fault somewhere along the exhaust.

As for any comeback from arnold clark, I doubt it as they don't seem to be major faults, from reading between the lines of your post. How long was the warranty they gave? Is their any manufacturers warranty left, if the car is an 08 most manufacturers give 3 years warranty so maybe they can fix it for you.

They dont actually seem to know where the leak came from. The sun roof seems a guess.

It also sounds like a one off so far more likely human error.

Reading between the lines the damp is around the sunroof so unless it has a hole in the roof, it can only be really 1 of 3 things, like you say human error and it wasn't closed properly, a split or broken seal or a blocked drain which has overflowed.

Either way the op would be best to seek advice from a forum specific to the cars make and model.

Jesus, that was as hard to write as it was to read the OP...

Anyway, the toxic fume thing is engine related. So the OP's friend who knows (nothing) about cars is wrong.

Could be a duff sensor, coil pack, glow plug, injector...
