Holidays in Paphos

I liked paphos and ma planning to go back this year. It is a bit busy but I use it as a base for getting around.
It is dear- no doubt about it .
Some hotels ,mostily on the outskirts do offer a cheap all inclusive- again its shopping around for the best price.Personally if its your first time there and you get a good all inclusive deal I would take it, as we did spend a lot eating out and the was only dinners. Although I much preferred the local food, if you drink it can be dearer too.
Hopefully some people might be able to recommend a good all inclusive resort ro get you started.0 -
check out the roman hotel if you like quirky !***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0

Hubby and I have booked a 10 day all inclusive holiday at the Ascos Beach Hotel in Coral Beach just outside of Paphos,we're going mid May. Got quite a good deal through TC. Hotel seems to have got quite a few good reviews both on Trip Advisor and Holiday Watchdog sites. Hotel was an adult only venue but as from May this year it does state they will be allowing children, not sure what age children but it may just be older ones i.e teenager. Anyhow hopefully the time we're going there shouldn't be too many kids around as they should be at school as not going during school holiday period.:A0

going on May 15th, staying at the Louis Pheathon Hotel, AI
Hoping it's not as bad as C_Mababejive makes out!!
Does anyone know how much car hire is? or even moped/quad bike hire??0 -
Went to cyprus maybe 5 years ago now.We stayed in small town outside aya napa (spelt incorrectly im sure).Lots of small isolated coves etc.The islands great if you have a car you can travel all over(including the turkish part). The mountains are good,Lots of old history on the island too.
We allways look for a upcoming resort that way we can travel into the main resorts if we wont the livly side.Pathos is the old side mainly where the Slightly more seasoned go, therefore i imagine it will be dearer than the newer resorts. The only thing i will say is it is allmost english, you dont in many ways even feel abroad apart from the lovely weather. If it were me id go early or late in the season. It will be busy and very hot mid summer.
Rhodes is good as well ,again it is small enough you can get around the island with orgainised tours or a rented car.Falaraki is central but got lots of bad press a few years back (Brits on Lash).we went as it was closing up for the season (mid sept i think) it was great every thing was 3rd off and Holiday was half the price, weather is still better than we get here mid summer.
Turkeys great but very big so you need to be placed that you can travel allways, there really are some beautifull places dalaman and parmocalli (both probably spelt wrong) are great. You have to get used to the hygiene mind (tiolets can be holes in the ground). The people are friendly also ,though they are a differant culture, to me this adds to the fun to sum it wouldnt.Olu deniz we stayed at about 10 years ago.
Mid summer any of the above will be proper hot (Too hot for me).You may need to barter a little in turkey to get good prices though a little less if at all in the other 2. Hope you have fun.0 -
...It was cheaper a few years back , but thats the problem with the £.....
Yes, much cheaper years ago.
However, I think the problem is not the pound; it's the euro. The same has happened wherever they've got it. It's a bit like when we went over to decimalisation; prices shot up overnight.Marching On Together

Hi- We went to Cyprus a few years ago in July. Stayed in the Louis Phaethon Hotel just outside of Paphos. We loved it (2 kids- 5 and 8).First time AI and have to say we haven't managed to find anywhere to rival it yet. It isn't a big hotel (so only one pool), but there were always sunbeds. Had it's own private beach that was ok and there were water sports. The food was fantastic when we were there- ice-cream/snacks and drinks you helped yourself to(coke, fanta etc). All well known brands- not watered down and cocktails included on All Inclusive! Weather was VERY hot but we were all fine. We got taxi into Paphos to do a bit of sightseeing but had to come straight back-was far too hot for the kids to walk about so we had a very relaxing, lazy holiday by the pool!! "2 years ago went to Turkey and stayed in a hotel that had fantastic swimming pools, grounds etc but the food (though good) wasn't as good as Cyprus and the drink not as good. Wherever you go have a good time!:hello: SHARING THE LOVE (OF A BARGAIN) x0

Ok well thank you, I am looking for a holiday in Greece or Cyprus. Can anyone help with areas to go to, im not into clubbing or drinking, would like some historical sites, nice beaches, good resteraunts and little bars, nice shops, hot weather, nice hotels.
Thank you
Have you thought of the east side, much better beaches.
Pernera.......
History is the Pathos side, but the beaches are crap & the sea rough.
ETA Cyprus is NOT cheap, its about the most expensive place (bar Italy) you can go in the Med.0 -

that's not actually true.
Cyprus (and it's definitely Paphos folks not PATHOS!) was always quite expensive when they had the Cyprus pound.
My brother runs a bar in Paphos (see my locaiton on the left) and during CY£ to Euro conversion, he had to show prices in both and they had to be an exact conversion, at the rate set by government.
This was inspected regularly by the local tourist office.
Places like Greece have taken the mickey a lot more than Cyprus, as they were not allowed to do it.
Anyway, our kid charges just over 2 euro a pint - and its a good pint, pop in and say hello ;o)
The Elysium looks very nice - we stayed next door at the Kefalos Beach. It's true they aren't the best beaches in the world, but the one at Coral Bay is nice.
if you aren't into clubbing I would look at somewhere like one of the other Islands - places like Kephalonia will have far superior beaches.0 -
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
