Tescos vs Asda

I see no one's mentioned M & S as their favourite :rotfl: I'm lucky in that OH works for them so we get 20% discount on everything - it makes it cheaper than Tescos for a lot of things:rolleyes: .

I don't like the quality in Asda either, I went once and abandoned my trolley half way round. It's okay for brand names and probably a bit cheaper on them but the quality of their own food is poor. My MIL works there and she thinks I'm mad shopping in Tesco, my FIL thinks the sun shines out of ASDA's doors so I guess it's each to their own. I do agree with the whole fruit and veg thing, I was impressed with quality of ASDA fruit and veg and I am often frustrated at Tesco, you only seem to get a well stocked variety of f&V in the Tesco extra stores and even then they can go off really quickly, on a few occassions I have had to hand mouldy fruit and veg off the shelves to staff, it makes me really annoyed actually.I am trying to get as much local grown organic produce as possible too as the quality of my food's really important to me.

I usually shop online at Tesco, but thought I'd try a comparison with Asda online a couple of weeks ago. I posted up my initial findings (ooh er hark at her!).

As promised, I thought I'd update you about the supermarket challenge.

The guide price for both supermarkets was very similar. Tesco's worked out to be around £2.50 more on the same items bought in Asda. However, when the delivery note came I'd been charged around £3 more than the guide.

I think this was because the items which are weighed are way off (excuse the pun) when you put them in the basket. They are more epensive when they go through the till.

Asda's website was much slower than Tesco's, but easier to navigate around the aisles.

The drivers from both stores are nice and friendly.

All in all I think that it comes down to which shop will be the cheapest when you do the shopping.

But then it got worse and Asda tried to charge me twice and hung on to my money even after paying. I posted here about that here.

I will stick with Tescos online for now, or pop to Asdas (the only supermarket in my area) if I don't have the money to do a switch and have to pay by cheque so that it clears by pay day.
