Tescos vs Asda

Don't like Tesco or Asda - has to be Morrisons for me every time. At the very least they dont have the huge non food areas that encourage me to spend a small fortune every time I go in.

Welll, it was six of one and half a dozen of another tbh. An awful lot of the prices were exactly the same - dh's razor blades and baby's fruit purees were a lot cheaper in Asda, but other things obviously balanced it out.

However, I ought to point out that the only meat I bought was casserole meat - and I didn't buy any fruit or veg. I'll get that from the Sunday market (much cheaper and fresher) in a mo, and the rest of the meat I pick up from the butcher or a local shop depending on price, as I don't trust anyone else to choose it. Tescos have given me rotten onions so many times I've given up. I also get bread from our baker (my luxury item you could say as it is more expensive at 1.25 a loaf - but much more healthy.)

I buy a lot of Smart Price stuff and they don't do BOGOFs on those, but Tesco don't either for their Value range. If I was buying brand names Tesco would probably be cheaper on some items because of the BOGOFs.

Asda cheapo range is much better quality than Tesco.

have to say im a asda fan as well, we have asda and morrisons within 3 miles of each other but tescos is about 10 miles
tescos ocasionally came out cheaper for items but the additonal petrol cost to get there made any savings lost

I never buy at asda, think the quality is pretty bad generally, things like their own brand crisps, and dairy a bit greasy, thier meat a bit suspect, but thier own brand shampoo & conditioners are really good, and thier homewares, excellent value.

I dumped asda as I couldnt ever buy recycled kitchen & loo roll, bin bags in there, and across the board, theres hardly any "green choices" ina asdas. They dont do fair trade sugar, or decent FT teas, an its further away costing me more in cab fare home, whereas i can bus it from tescos. I also got a bit peeved with the nearest things to offers in asdas is buy more like £3 for £3, five for a fiver" Who needs 5 packs of juice/frozen pizzas whatever? It just meant more waste for us. A lot of tescos value fruit & veg is UK grown- its practically impossible to get UK grown stuff in asdas, well my local one anyway.

Once you factor in clubcard points in tescos, I think its much better value.

PLus there are shed loads of codes on the codes board to get free delivery, extra CC points etc free tihsn that, if you choose tesco delivery. Also I tried asda delivery once, and the quazlity of the stuff they gave me was dire, and substituted ridiculously, No we dont have 2 pints of skimmed organic milk, but we'll give you 6 pints full cream ( blueer) and charge you more. erm, no thanks.

We usually shop at Asda and get excellent value for money and generally I have found the products great.

This week we decided to shop at Tesco and I felt so disappointed I cried afterwards (sad I know) I spent over my budget for less items and we only brought the things we usually buy from Asda.

Also I wasn't impressed with the stock of Tesco, I like a lot of fruit and vegetables and they didn't have much choice. However, I find Morrisons best for fruit and vegetables

Some people will rave about asda and some tescos and even some about the others....

thay ALL have good and bad points , its all about SMART shoping init

We have a somerfield 5 minutes away, and the choice in there is absolutely dire, they very rarely replenish stock until it has all gone.
Iceland is right next door to that, I shope there. Fall in to the ASDA category though if i had to choose,plus yu can shop through quidco ;-)

i being a bit skint thought i would do my shopping this weekend at ASDA instead of TESCO well i browsed the store and lots of my faithful brands were cheaper great i tried very hard not to be swayed by this or that offer and im not convinced by th buy 2 ofr £2.00 oofer either however get to pay out comes my asda store card (used on st end of month when skint NOT a cc) the checkout girl calls out its declined................................... what i dint think so i had paid this bill lol! so again she calls out its declned maybe you havent paid your bill! well that was it for me i nealy peed my pants i was so embarressed! people were looking at me i got flustered gave her my switch card that i couldnt afford to pay on but had too! and i couldnt remember my pin! so i messed taht up and she is calling out its not going through and im stood there apologisng!!!!!!!! anyway paid and went home steam shooting from my ears! and rang thier helpline who clearly stated there was no reason that should of happend clearly an imcompatent cashier! well i rang the store and complained and the manager said how sorry she was and she would talk to the cashier apparantly she should have got customer services yo ring card services
well im still not happy so no asda for me for a while!
